Star Wars Visions collects a wealth of art - hand-picked by George Lucas - produced by a variety of artists, illustrators, designers and cartoonists, working across all genres and styles to celebrate their favourite characters, themes, worlds and moments from the Star Wars Universe. The full list of contributors is to be released incrimentally over the 6 months leading up to publication, with sneak previews, on starwars.com.
About the Author
Acme Archives Limited is the world's largest privately held conservation repository for artwork created in the process of producing filmed entertainment. Founded in 1996, Acme has established retail fine art programs for several entertainment companies, with specific titles including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, The Simpsons, and Family Guy, and oversees the entire studio art catalog of titles from Walt Disney and Pixar-from the classics to the present.

This isn't the concept art book I imagined or was expecting. This isn't a concept art book at all.
Star Wars Art: Visions is more of a fan art book, except the 'fans' here are some of the best illustrators around. Think Moebius, Alex Ross, Syd Mead, Julie Bell and Boris Vallejo, H.R. Giger, Peter de Seve and James Christensen. There are 93 guest artists in all. Wow!
George Lucas has invited all these fine artists to create art for Star Wars, in their own style and interpretation. You'll see art from all sorts of styles, ranging from impressionist to manga to Picasso, punk(?), collage and more.
The book itself is huge, and the prints are large. You can see the details of the brush strokes and all. And most of the paintings are created traditionally.
The subjects are pretty cool, especially the more different ones like Kermit the Frog fishing with Yoda (from Peter de Seve), or the manga Leia which looks like she's from an alternate universe, or (gasp!) a nude Aayla.
This is a great collection of quality art. Easily recommended to any Star Wars fan.

Bought this as a gift for my brother who is a SW fan and he loved it. These are not concept designs for the movies, but another take on the SW universe. Must buy for fans. Was also very cheap.

The concept art in this book is simply mind blowing, from a chuckle causing Kermit the Frog fishing with Yoda to the mesmerising battle scenes depicted throughout. Some of the world's best artists have come together to share their love of Star Wars and this is a must for any fan that loves to see both new and old characters come to life in a fresh, immense way.
