Among other things, the back of the book claims to feature "An album by album, track by track analysis". I would like to point out that there is a difference between an analysis and a summary.
If you're looking for a musical and technical analysis you'll be painfully disappointed to recieve five or six sentences briefly describing a song you could just listen to. If you're lucky, you'll get an off-topic anecdote or a far-fetched comparison to an old author favorite. Random refrences to old sixties and seventies bands are a plenty, I'm afraid, and none do anything to give the reader a better idea of the song or its roots.
For example, Lucky is claimed to start out like Neil Young's Heart of Gold "before growing into a man-sized epic of early seventies symphonic rock proportions".
Praising the seventies provides no insight on either music, or even Radiohead. Furthermore, the songs compared are rarely anything alike.
