Product Description

Product Description

This is an evocative photo book of Oasis during their first, traumatic and wildly exciting year together. Between March 1994 and April 1995 the Gallagher Brothers Noel and Liam, together with Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, Paul 'Guigsy' McGuigan and drummer Tony McCarroll spearheaded the movement known as Britpop. Photographer Paul Slattery captured them on film every inch of the way, in the UK and on their first tours of the US and Japan, on video shoots and on radio and TV appearances.

About the Author

Paul Slattery took his first rock photos in June 1975, of Link Wray at the London Lyceum. Between 1978 and 1985 he was a regular contributor to Sounds magazine, and since then has photographed a veritable who's who of rock'n'rollers on four continents. His work has appeared in NME, Q, Uncut, Mojo, Classic Rock and Japan's Rockin On, and in over a hundred books. While he continues to photograph rock bands he also enjoys travel and landscape photography and is presently involved in a long project to photograph all of Britain's native orchids. He is married and lives in Brentford, West London.

The photos in this book perfectly capture the excitement of a band realizing they are "making it" and not being ashamed to grab the moment in all it's traditional rock 'n' roll glory.

From sparsely attended early gigs in the dives of the UK circuit to sold out shows in the US and hordes of screaming groupies in Japan, this is a classic case of a photographer being in the right place at the right time.

It would appear that the photographer has been granted complete freedom and access to document the band's rise and this allows a remarkable variety of pictures - from cool and arrogant posing to superb shots of the band live and in their element on stage - it's all here.
