Bought this unit to convert my 600 CDs into a high quality 'jukebox' through the hifi. I installed a WD network hard drive to hold ripped files at max quality.
Plus points -
Easy to initially set up. Found home wifi immediately
Sound quality on streamed music files is excellent.
iPod app to remote control is well designed and laid out (BUT see below....)

Minus points
The Denon does not handle lossless music files very easily. I found it would only play WMA Lossless from start of track i.e . No pause during a song. Also could not easily record track info from WAV files without re-ripping entire collection. So converted all my lossless recordings to MP3 320 kbps in iTunes, then migrated files to network drive.

The unit is effectively unusable on large music libraries using the supplied remote control. It needs either the Denon app or a suitable Android one ( AVR-remote). The interface between the remote app, the library manager software on my WD drive and my wifi network seems very unstable and often drops out. Also , some of the indexes to find music tracks ( All tracks and Album ) seem unreliable and don't build smoothly. After a couple of frustrating weeks am currently still diagnosing the root of the problem ( rebuilding library indexes, rebooting everything and checking all the ID3 tagging of my files etc etc ) This was far more work than I had expected and I would think it would be beyond anyone without a reasonable knowledge of setting up home networks, file structures etc.

So a good product in audio terms, but not seamless to fit into its working network environment.

I have had the DNP-720 for half a year now. Playing WAV or FLAC files, the sound is very good for the price (even slightly better than from my old Denon CD player). Internet Radio and streaming music from my WD MyBookLive Network Storage both work fine and stable (via Ethernet connection). I think the remote is not as bad as some people wright, it does everything I need. The screen is bright and good to read from up to 3m distance.

However, I would not buy the player again for five reasons:

1) I am missing a USB connection for a PC or hard disk at the back of the unit. This is a shame as it would be handy to use the good DAC of the unit in order to listen to music directly from your laptop. The only USB connectivity is at the front. It does not connect to a PC and looks ugly in connection with an external HD cable.
2) The Denon remote app on Android does not work (it works on iPhone though). It simply doesn't recognize and connect to the player. Hundreds of other users are having had the same problem but Denon does nothing about it.
3) The player can only read USB drives with FAT32 file system, but Windows cannot normaly format a drive larger than 32GB with FAT32 (there are ways around this problem on Windows, but it's not straightforward).
4) The front USB connection can only read i-devices, but not Android. The player might be fine for Apple fans (not playing Apple Lossless files though), but not for the overwhelming rest of the world.
5) No Spotify connectivity (I do stream Spotify from my Laptop to the unit using Airfoil/Airplay though. This works fine, but again it's not easy and straightforward)

Bought this at a heavily discounted price and am so pleased with it. Its fits on my Hi-Fi stack perfectly. I'm using it with a Denon PMA-355UK and Denon DCD-695 and it matches the looks and design very well.

I bought to replace a SONOS ZP90 which was great but the sound from the Denon is so much richer and produces much more base. The remote control is okay but I haven't used it since first set-up as I'm using the official Denon app on the iPad to control it. I also use an app called AVR-Remote on my Android phone which also does the job perfectly!

Napster works well with full integration and it also found my music library on my Synology NAS drive with ease. If you buy before 31 March Denon are also offering a free Airplay upgrade (apparently worth £40) which was available on the device as soon as I upgraded the firmware. Airplay is integrated well and while I do not use it often if you are an iTunes fan you will love it as it eliminates the need for a dock.

The unit is made to a very high premium quality and sounds excellent. I think its a great product and am enjoying using it. Its easy to set-up and connect to my home network took less than one minute.

In summary if you are looking for an Airplay capable device with all the streaming options you can imagine, this is great. You even get an AM/FM tuner, but unfortunately no DAB tuner.

I'm very happy with this enhancement to my hifi system. Combined with a NAS I'm able to have my whole music collection available thru Wifi on this audiophile piece of equipment. Beats any sound card available. Also handles any audio format, whether .ape, .flac, .mp3, or any other kind. of course, it doens't beat my Marantz SA15 SACD player but for most of my music it's sufficient. The Marantz 7004 would have fitted better with my SA-15 and PM-11 but I got the Denon for half the price of the Marantz. I'm sure it delivers nearly the same performance. Also supports remote conmtrol thru Iphone/Ipad/Ipod and Apple Airstream which is a nice (but not audiophile) extra.
So if you're looking for an affordable (EUR 300- to EUR500,-) network audio player, this may just be your choice.
