5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fine Album, 19 Jul 2007

Steven who? is probably most people's reaction when hearing Lindsay's name. Which is a shame as he has a cracking voice and puts together brilliant songs. There's a catchy, playability to all the tracks on this album; it's rarely been off the player since I bought it. In all honesty, Kite isn't a great departure from Exit Music - you can instantly tell the style of the songwriting, but that doesn't detract from the sheer musicality of Lindsay. I first discovered Steven Lindsay's music from reading The Word magazine - and have never regretted buying his album on spec. I'd urge anyone to do the same - I doubt you'll be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lush, 24 Aug 2007

I bought this album on a whim - having not heard any tracks on it but seeing it in passing on Amazon. It's just, simply, a beautiful record that actually holds together as a complete album (unlike a lot of stuff around nowadays). The musical arrangements vary from the perfectly simple to the sublimely complex, as do the lyrics. As it holds together as one piece it seems almost wrong to pick stand-out tracks but Put Up The Flag is the most uplifting few minutes I've heard for a very long time. Comparisons to The Blue Nile I can see, I'd also pick Black as a reference point, Del Amitri, and Rialto (anyone remember them?). Brilliant, the first album I'd give 5 stars to since the Blue Nile's Peace At Last - music for intelligent people who like a good tune and a good song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top music!, 24 Aug 2007

I got into The Big Dish with Swimmer (giving my age away) and thought the excellent Satellites would break them into the Big Time. I saw them live at Newcastle Riverside in 91 (sadly closed), great live too - then that was it - nothing else apart from a compilation - until now!

I've discovered this and the excellent Exit Music recently, and wow - still a great voice and singer/songwriter. I bought both these CDs on a whim and a prayer based on work over 16 years old, and it beats a lot of today's music. A cheeky version of Monkey Gone to Heaven even works.

Highly recommended! Thanks for reading.
