This was a late Christmas present (I received it in January of 2011), but it was certainly worth the wait. Many of the best film composers (under contract as well as freelance) made these films even better. From the opening 20th Century Fox music logo with cinemascope extension on CD #1, all 3 discs contain principle themes that were (previously) only available on individual soundtrack albums. Alfred Newman is a particular favorite of mine. Newman's musical versatility extended from light comedy to religious epics. Add selections by composers Bernard Herrmann, Alex North, John Williams and several others and you'll understand why this 3-CD set is such a pleasure to listen to. Here's a thought! If your CD player has a random selection or mix button on it, pop in one of the 3 CDs. Then see how many Fox Film Scores you can identify without checking the book that comes with the set? If you enjoy film music as much as I do, it's easy to hear why 20th CENTURY FOX: 75 years of Great Film Music is so FANTASTIC!
