Book Description

15 Aug 2011
'The 2012 Astrotheology Calendar' serves as a basic introduction into the world of astrotheology and solar mythology. In addition to showing lunar phases, this calendar highlights the solstices, equinoxes and fire festivals with a different color for each of the eight relevant days. In our quest to inspire an interest in astrotheology, mythology and archaeoastronomy, we have also provided fascinating information about the astronomical alignments and astrotheological meanings of various archaeological sites and ancient artifacts from around the world. The calendar further explores the mythology surrounding the end of the Mayan calendar, as well as correspondences between the Mayan religion and biblical traditions.

3.0 out of 5 stars The 2012 Astrotheology Calendar 21 Dec 2011
By Sharon
Format:Calendar
I bought this calendar because I wanted to see an awe-inspiring photograph of an ancient monument on my wall every day. However, I am very disappointed with the photographs in this calendar. First of all, the calendar is printed on matte paper rather than glossy paper, which gives a dull quality to the photographs, but the worst thing is that the resolution of the photographs is so low that you can see the pixels in every image! The pixels in the photograph for September are particularly large. This means that none of the images in the calendar (excepting the thumbnails on the back of the calendar) are crisp and some of them are very fuzzy indeed (September's image). It's nice to have all of the moon phases and solstices etc marked on a wall calendar but, for me, the main point of a wall calendar is the pictures; I mark the dates for everything in my diary. Also, this calendar doesn't even have holes punched through the page so that you can hang it up; I had to punch the holes myself. I've given the calendar three stars because the monuments depicted are fantastic. I just wish the photographs were crisp and glossy. This calendar is let down by it's poor production quality. If the photographs were in high resolution and printed on quality, glossy paper I would have given it five stars, with or without holes punched in it. Sadly, this is not the case.

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT CALENDAR 11 Jan 2012

I LOVE THE DEPTH BREADTH AND VARIETY OF INFORMATION GIVEN IN THIS WONDERFUL CALENDAR ALONG WITH ALL TH ADDITIONAL LINKS GIVEN FOR FOLLOWUP. THE GLOBAL COVERAGE IS GREAT, ESPECIALLY THE CHOICE OF LESSER KNOWN SITES (CHACO CANYON, DROMBEY AND ALMENDRES). I LEARNED SO MUCH NEW UNKNOWN AND NEVER EVEN HEARD OF BEFORE.
I WOULD HAVE LIKED MINI MAP/LOCATERS IN A BLANK CALENDAR SQUARE FOR EACH SITE ALONG WITH STAR DIAGRAMS FOR EPOCHAL SOLSTICE CONFIGURATIONS AT EACH SITE AS WELL. HOWEVER THE OVERALL LOOK AND INFROMATION GIVEN IN THIS CALENDAR IS VERY WELL PRESENTED. THANKYOU FOR THIS GREAT PRODUCT.

I am interested in this type of subject so the calendar is an excellent product in my opinion. It continues where the 2011 calendar left off.
