As far as I'm concerned this is one of the Speedway DVD best productions I have seen. It's a great watch, whether you want to look back at a great year of speedway or if you missed a competition and want to be brought up to date.
Features: The DVD features all eleven Grand Prix-competitions of the year as well as the four final events of the World Cup. Not every single heat is shown in its entirety, but more often than not they show a full version of the heats that were the most interesting. Interviews relevant to what is currently happening in the competition is also included, as well as some "behind the scenes"-segments at the start of most events (walk through the pits, autograph signing and so forth).
Visual quality: The picture is really sharp and the new graphics for 2010 look great. Only complaint I might have is that the menus are kind of dull, but that is, if anything, nitpicking.
Audio quality: Nigel Pearson is the primary commentator, both for the actual races and for everything else happening on-screen. He is accompanied by Sam Ermolenko and Kevin Tatum (never at the same time though). Pearson does an absolutely stellar job and manages to get excited and worked up even though this is not the first time he is watching these races. Tatum is a lot of fun to listen too and complements Pearson in a wonderful way. Ermolenko is, in my opinion, one of the sharpest observers when it comes to speedway, and as such he also shines as a co-commentator. Personally I think Ermolenko is more entertaining to listen to, but Tatum does a great job as well. Overall, excellent commentating, the actual "race sounds" sound great and the music serves its purpose.
Special features: While there are no selectable special features from the menus, each event starts of with some kind of special. Some of these were shown on the SGP-website, but some are (to my knowledge)exclusive to the DVD. The features run the gambit. For example, you have Chris Holder and Tai Woffinden talking about life in the Grand Prix, a walk-through of a speedway bike with Steve Johnston, an interview with Jason Crump aboard a battleship (no kidding) and a segment following Andreas Jonsson as he travels through Gothenburg, promoting the Swedish Grand Prix. These are all good and really interesting, however I really would like to have had the option of choosing the from the menu as well. Still, that is pretty much the only thing I can complain about.
Overall: This is a great package and I think anyone who is a speedway fan will appreciate these DVD:s and what they have to offer. I heartily recommend them as I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them, and given how good the Grand Prix was in 2010, I reckon I'll come back to them plenty more times.
