You don't just get to play in the tournament itself though, but as many of the qualification rounds as you're interested in. Whether you choose to play as one of the early favourites or try and take a minnow like Luxembourg to global glory every option is available.
The basic gameplay works similarly to FIFA 10, but with a new penalty shootout system and new adapted features for the high altitude South African stadia, that accurately simulate the effects of fatigue. With crowds and fans replicated as realistically as the players themselves this has all the features of the regular FIFA games with all the atmosphere of the greatest show on Earth.

The last footie game on the PSP that I bought was FIFA World Cup 2006, so it's been a while.
The option menus, and actual variety in terms of different qualifying tournaments etc., is very good. Can't fault it there at all, nor the fact that each country seems to have 50+ players to choose from.
Gameplay is alright - not great, not terrible. Yes, you can try a variety of passing methods, but ultimately, the best tactic seems to be just to sprint forward down the wings. Glad to see that midfielders do get in on some of the goal action, but there's still a tendency for the forward striker to bag almost all the goals, regardless of his quality.
It's basically pretty average, and worth playing. But nothing to jump up and and down about.

I reluctantly bought this game for my son as he has a number of football games for the psp. However my son insists that there are many different options on theis games to other that he has and the grafics are better too. The only downside is I can't get any sense out of my son when hes on it!!!!

really really good game coll soundtrack tho wavin flag is a damn good song which annoys my dad. The gameplay is easy for me as im not that good at footie games but this only needs 2 buttons to control it so that is good.If you see it buy it it is a good solid game

Great buy!
I bought this game for my 9 year old along with Grand Turissmo. As yet he's not stopped playing them! Even his older brother who isn't into games is playing them.
