styles of beyond are gods to the multi-spectual world of hip hop. their sound is full of moody samples and boom beats. i find it hard 2 describe the level this cd is at and the intro alone is jaw droping. i could describe it as dilated peoples with better beats and better raps all i can ask is that u trust me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic underground material! 30 Aug 2004
By Bijan Shamloo - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Wow, what an album, a joy to listen to. This is what the underground is all about. Styles of Beyond raises the bar in hip-hop content and delivery. The beats are very well constructed, with samples being used wisely and drum patterings constantly changing. Muuvon employes excellent use of beat chopping and winneka exit uses a good vox. The rhymes are amazing, taking the listener to new dimensions lyrically and rhythmically. Ryu and Takbir's chemistry is flawless. They bounce back and forth with ease and their styles fit nicely with each other. They sound like veterans, it's hard to believe that this is their first album. The beats ooze with originality and exuberance, you can tell that they were worked on for hours on end. Basically everything about this album shines, but what really stands out is the pace. Before you know it, the album's over and you're left wondering where the hour went. That's the mark of a classic album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Awesome 20 Feb 2000
By T Wreck - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Styles of Beyond's debut album is a modern hip hop classic. So many hip hop groups are signing with major labels these days (J-5 and Dilated Peoples are both currently working on albums for major labels), it's great to see a truly underground hip hop group. All the tracks on the album are great, but standouts are "Styl Warz" featuring Rhettmatic, and the absolutely amazing "Winnetka Exit". That song has the greatest lyrics I've heard in a long, long time. Styles of Beyond reminds me of A Tribe Called Quest in their prime, with a bit of Herbaliser thrown in, while still maintaining a very unique sound. But if you consider yourself a fan of hip hop - or music in general - do yourself a favour, and pick up "2000 Fold".

5.0 out of 5 stars eternal classic! 8 Mar 2004
By kasey barkle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
S.o.B claim to not really like this album and listening to it now, just makes them shake their head in dissapointment... i guess that's cuz their so much better and rawer in Megadef... however for me, their both classics... i love them both for their respective strengths... the songs in 2000 Fold were written in 95 and 96, and people claim they've changed for Megadef, which is a 2003 album... i think if Styles hadn't changed from 7 or 8 years ago, something would be seriously wrong...
and Pay Me is dedicated to the promoter J- Perez who ripped them off a thousand dollars for a show with a fake cheque! but cheapshot nearly caught up with him...
get both albums, their both great!
peace,

5.0 out of 5 stars Here comes A GRAVY PIPE! 8 Sep 2004
By M. R. Sains - Published on Amazon.com

Alright now, I had heard Track 2 on the Beat Junkies volume whatever, the double disk and then about 2 years later (now) I listened to their new lp online (which is hot fire) and decided to go out and get the first album (which with any artist, is always better). Let me tell ya, if you're reading this to decide whether or not to buy it or not....JUST BUY IT you will freak when you hear it because it is just that good. From the intro to the outro....except for like...a minute of one song the whole album is gold. the lyrics are amazing (especially for west coast mc's...sorry west coast) and the dj'in is perfect for their style. Rhett's tracks are exceptional as well as the beat box track. But yes 5 stars and a big ol' hip hop [] for this album folks. cough up the cash and enjoy.
