Awesome! 10 Feb 2003

It's a long time since a new song has had the kind of impact on me as 'All The Things She Said' did when I first heard it - even more remarkable when the song retains its impact on the 50th time of hearing. Yet arguably that is not the best track on this quite superb album. The songs on here are all pure class. The album kicks off with the driven 'Not Gonna Get Us', perfectly encompassing the feelings of isolation and anger felt by the young protagonists, as we are led to believe. 'All The Things She Said' should be played loud every time, and is followed by 'Show Me Love' which oscillates between the calm and thoughtful to the frantic - this song will be huge. '30 Minutes' slows things down, and the cover of the Smiths' 'How Soon Is Now' is certianly interesting, but very well executed. 'Clowns' makes good use of an acoustic guitar to drive the verses, and 'Malchik Gay' contrasts yet again. Finally 'Stars' seems to hit another level, a conclusion to all the emotional turmoil expressed in the previous tracks. The remaining songs are Russian versions of 'All The Things She Said' and 'Not Gonna Get Us' which lose nothing in the transition back to their original form, and remixes of 'Show Me Love' and '30 Minutes'.
Though short (only 8 stand-alone tracks) this is a great collection. The vocals hit the spot, expressing the wonder, confusion and desperation of the alledged situation of the girls perfectly, and lent another dimention by the accents of Julia and Lena. The production is slick but not overdone, and after one listen you are left with a sense that Tatu already have a sound that is distictly 'theirs'. Highly recommended.

'200 KM/H In The Wrong Lane'the debut English language album from Russian Techno-pop Duet t.A.T.u. (Comprised of Julia Volkova And Lena Katina) has to be, by far, the best album of this year

it's comprised mostly of hard guitar influenced dance tracks that will leave you begging for more, it leads into its slower moments with ballads ("30 Minutes", "Stars", and the oh-so-creepy "Clowns") that will pull at your heart strings more than any pop ballad you've ever heard, after those are the Russian versions of "All the things she said" (Ya Soshla S Uma) and "Not Gonna Get Us" (Nas Ne Dogoniat) ..even if you dont speak the language (i personally dont) you cant help but realise the strength of there voices and the harsh-ness of the original language

Beautiful voices...
Great Beats...
intelligent songwriting...
its like nothing you've ever hear before

theres old pop...and then theres t.A.T.u.

Sheer genius 8 Jan 2004
Format:Audio CD
This is undoubtedly one of the best albums in recent years, let down by the fact that there is only eight original tracks, with two songs also presented in the Russian version, and two remixes. The music is unique and fantastic. It is catchy and captivating music at its best.

It is true (unfortunately) that if it wasnt for the contraversial lesbian antics and furore it caused, we may never have heard of t.A.T.u., but their music talent is surely not without question on this album.

The Russian version of the songs are a nice touch, and there is more emotion and power in them, but I prefer the English versions. Great album - just need the sequel ;-)

Censured??
Good album! I LOVE IT! The problems I've found is that it's the censured version! So you will miss a couple of "nice" words that should have been there... The other problem? Read more

Excellent pop, but too little of it.
While all the songs on the CD are easily worth listening to, the fact is that there's only 8 of them, plus the Russian versions of All The Things She Said and Not Gonna Get Us, an... Read more
