This is the original Russian version of "200 Km/h in the Wrong Lane", and in my opinion it is vastly superior. Don't get me wrong, the Trevor-Horn-produced English version was good, but this has the girls singing beautifully in Russian, also with some more Russian / European influenced songs which are very original and catchy and which do not appear on the English album, such as "Robot," "Doschitay do Sta" and "Ya Tvoy Vrag" as well as the storming original Russian version of "All the Things She Said." English song versions are missing, of course, as is the version of the Smiths' "How Soon is Now."

Superlative. Five stars.

This is the original release of t.A.T.u's first Russian album 200 Po Vstrechnoj, and overall it is vastly superior to the later English-language equivilent, 200km/H In The Wrong Lane. While the English version isn't without its merits (their cover of The Smiths classic How Soon Is Now being one), it suffers greatly from Yulia and Lena's weakness in English pronounciation at the time. This original release, being sung entirely in their mother tongue, suffers no such setbacks and is a much easier listen - even for those with no grasp of the Russian language.

The tracklisting for this original release of 200 Po Vstrechnoj is as follows...

1. Zachem Ya
The title translates as Why Me, and the song was later recorded in English and released as Stars on international versions of the album.

2. Ya Soshla S Uma
This is the original version of the international smash hit All The Things She Said, and its original title translates as I Have Gone Mad. The version on this album is a different (though still very similar) arrangement to the English and accompanying Russian versions released on 200km/H In The Wrong Lane.

3. Nas Ne Dogonyat
Later released worldwide as Not Gonna Get Us, this original title translates quite similarly as They Can't Catch Us.

4. Doschitai Do Sta
One of 3 tracks that have not received English-language versions, Doschitai Do Sta translates as Count To 100. The track is quite Euro-sounding in its production, and it is one of the few weaker moments on the album.

5. 30 Minut
Also known as Polchasa (Half An Hour), 30 Minut was later released as 30 Minutes in its international variant.

6. Ya Tvoi Vrag
Another Euro-sounding Russian-only track, Ya Tvoi Vrag translates as I'm Your Enemy, and is the strongest of the 3 non-international tracks on this release.

7. Ya Tvoya Ne Pervaya
Translated as I'm Not Your First, this is the Russian version of Show Me Love. Although the English version has a slightly beefed-up arrangement, this original version is still a stand-out on this release.

8. Robot
The third of the Russian-only tracks, Robot (you can guess the translation) is one of those so-bad-it's-absolutely-brilliant tracks that will become a guilty pleasure. A Euro-stomper in the extreme, although its not hard to see why it was never given the English treatment for the international album.

9. Malchik Gay
Released internationally with the same title, this version is extremely different to its English version. The production is a much dancier, Euro effort than we received on 200km/H In The Wrong Lane.

10. Nas Ne Dogonyat (HarDrum Remix)
11. 30 Minut (HarDrum Remix)
Unnecessarily included to close the album, these remixes would have been better off replaced with proper tracks, such as Klouni (Clowns on the international album). This track was, however, included on the 2nd Russian release of 200 Po Vstrechnoj, along with remixes of 30 Minut and Malchik Gay in place of the remixes included here.

The inclusion of the 2 pointless remixes is the only thing preventing me from giving this album 5 stars, but taking them out of the equation makes 200 Po Vstrechnoj pretty damn close to being a perfect debut.

Russian Language - Tatu is better 6 Nov 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This Tatu album is awesome. Maybe it is just me, but the Russian version of the music seems to have much more of an urgency and power to it than the English conversion. Of course you will not understand most of the words if you don't speak Russian, but translations are available on the web. With a little work, you can learn many of the common words and get the intent of the music. (there is one word on the album in English, robot)

Many of the things in the album just don't translate well, so hearing and understanding it in Russian gives you a great incite into what the song is really about. There is something about the translation of "Ya ni Ya" that just almost means the same thing, but doesn't and can't be sung nearly as neatly. ("I'm not me" or "I not I" is "Ya ni Ya")

Along The Lines Of The English Album 29 May 2003
By BS - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
While t.A.T.u has become one of the world's popular popstars with their English debut, '200 km/h in the wrong lane', their native Russian album 'Dvesti Po Vstrechnoi' should not be overlooked.

Although amazon.com describes this as a 'Russian version' of the English album, it's not just in Russian. In addition, there are several tracks that did not make into the English debut.

Tracks such as 'Doschito Do Sta', 'Ya Tvoi Vrag' and 'Robot' are all examples of Russian originals that did not get translated into English.

The whole album itself is a decent album with electronica sounds just like the English version. However, this album I would have to admit is little dance poppy which might repel some of the more 'harder, rock' fans of t.A.T.u. For example, 'Malchik Gay' while an acoustic dance piece on the English version, actually sounds like a dance track on this album. Although not in English, 'Robot' is a awesome techno piece that deserves to be a single. Most people will enjoy it and it does make t.A.T.u's techno side show a bit more.

The well-known singles 'All The Things She Said' and 'Not Gonna Get Us' are available on this album in the RUSSIAN version. However, the recordings are a bit different than the Russian versions you find on the English version. It sounds different, not necessarily bad, but different. In fact, 'Ya Shosla S Uma' on this album sounds more dance pop than the harder rock piece available on the English album.

Overall, I would recommend this to people who enjoy t.A.T.u very much and would like to listen to more Russian tracks. However, if you're a casual fan, than the English version should suffice. If you're wondering whether you should get this album or the English one. Try the English one first because that one is easily available in most places, while the Russian versions are a bit harder to come by. If you enjoy that very much, then by all means, buy the Russian version.

Do Not Be Discouraged... 8 Nov 2004

...you do not need to understand Russian to be able to appreciate this beautiful album.

I am unsure of what a poster was writing about before, this album does not contain 19 songs, but only 12, 10 originals (including the new song "Klouni" which came with the second edition) and 2 remixes (one of "30 Minutes" and the other of "Malchik Gei").

Their voices seem stronger and relaxed with the advantage of speaking in their native tongue, it's more exciting listening to this album than the English version.

Though I do admit, I had to listen a few times to "Robot" and "Malchik Gei" a few times to be able to appreciate their unfamiliar (perhaps more common in European clubs) sound.

What's great about this album is the tracks that were not translated or changed to make English songs. Tracks #'s: 3 & 9.
