1.0 out of 5 stars It's just my opinion but..... 24 Sep 2010
What I find about this offer that makes it poor value for money is that it's nearly £43 for one years warranty coverage - year 2. Year one is already covered by law and the 1 year warranty given by Amazon. Also, if you have made a claim for your Kindle previously and had parts replaced to the value of your Kindle, or had your Kindle replaced, your extended warranty automatically dies. You don't get another one. What they don't explain is, suppose you have had parts replaced to half the cost of your Kindle and it then breaks down completely? Do you only get a new Kindle if you pay the other half of the cost or do you still get a new one, 'free'. If the former, add the cost of this warranty to the cost of 'half' a Kindle and you're not far off the price of a 2nd Kindle. Not a great incentive to purchase then. What I like about this offer is absolutely nothing....apart from the sheer audacity of someone actually trying to make this 'offer of peace of mind' look good. I'm not falling for it. I bought a Kindle as a Christmas gift so I'm already losing 3 months from the warranty. Bear that in mind too.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shocking, really shocking 30 Sep 2010
Having just bought a Kindle (and been delighted with it) I clicked on the extended warranty link in the Kindle shop and frankly, I'm appalled by this. Amazon is a word that has become synonymous with quality and value and I'm shocked that they're even allowing this company to charge this exorbitant fee for something that should frankly be free.

Amazon, this is just so not you. Delete this product asap.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bit of a con. 25 Sep 2010
Extended warranties are mostly a waste of money - the sale of goods act offers excellent protection. Also, there is the Consumer Credit Act where your credit card issuer is jointly liable for the failure to provide certain goods and services.

I'm not going to bother with extended warranties. The only time I ever called on one I was hit with the carriage charges to send and receive my item back. Since the item broke down several times the p&p cost more than the warranty. Not only that, the `insurer' insisted that the first 12 months was covered by the manufacturer meaning I only was only covered for the second year - even though I had paid for two.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money 28 Sep 2010
It's too much money, I would expect the Kindle to last 3 years if there is no design fault, have Amazon not got the belief in there own product?

1.0 out of 5 stars Too Greedy By Half !! 29 Sep 2010
I concur with all the previous comments and wanted to add my star to the pile. The Which Magazine, a staunch supporter of us consumers, always cautions against extended warranties and this is just another case in point. I think underwriters are in the same league as bankers and estate agents - avoid them if you can and stay happy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Way Too Expensive 28 Sep 2010
I have to echo all the other comments about "extended warranty" claims. I can not see how a two-year extended offer doesn't actually cover the first year! A normal twelve month guarantee, followed by an additional two years would have been great, and I would have said it was worth the asking price. Like another reviewer I have purchased a Kindle as a Christmas present, and will have lost the best part of 4 months cover anyway. Don't bother with it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute rip-off 28 Sep 2010
By Ventus2
Just bought a new Kindle as a present for my wife and I certainly won't be paying for this. Why spend almost 30% of the value to achieve an extra 1 year? Electronic goods of any quality should not have a failure result anywhere near this. Were ours to fail in year 2 I'd be quoting "The Sale of Goods Act" which requires adequate quality etc and expect a refund.
