The success of 'Bound' was some time ago so the world is certainly ready for another gay-themed mainstream movie and '2 Minutes Later' comes mighty close without quite making it. This time the gay characters are attached to the Private Eye movie format whereas Bound was a Mafia movie. This is good basis from which start as there are any number of successful gay/lesbian PIs to be found - Stoner McTavish, Dave Brandsetter and Mickey Knight have all enjoyed mainstream sales. Jessica Graham has to create 'Abigail Marks PI' from scratch in a fast-paced movie that leaves little time for character development. That she comes so close is a testament to her ability as an actress and the movie comes alive when she is on screen. There are a number of problems: with the exception of the 2 leads the acting is pretty wooden and I supect amateur, why did I keep thinking 'friends of the director'? The pace of the story-telling is both a blessing and a curse as the denoument is rushed which removes the capacity for revelling in the cleverness of various plot strands coming together. If the film had been extended by 15-30 minutes 2 Minutes later might well have succeeded as a mainstream movie, as it is one can only comment 'Nice Try'!
