Product Description

Description
Armand Van Helden is a DJ who has gained worldwide fame by spinning around the globe and releasing albums that have rocketed to the tops of foreign charts. 2 FUTURE 4 U is a mix album made up primarily of house tracks and contains the kinds of hip-hop flavorings that have become essential ingredients in Van Helden's trademark style. For example, "Mother Earth", which opens the album, features an appearance from Tekitha of Wu-Tang Clan.
The album uses clever, funky samplesthat mix well with the killer grooves that Van Helden supplies. Check out "The Boggie Monster", "Rock the Spot" (which features Mr. Len of Company Flow), and "U Don't Know Me" (featuring Duane Harden). Despite what it's title might lead one to believe, 2 FUTURE 4 U is perfect for this day and age.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creating the future sounds of dance., 7 May 2000
By A Customer
Armand Van Helden is , in my opinion one of the current crop of dance pioneers and this CD showcases his talents to the full. The album has the stomping hits all seroius dance fans should know like "You don't know me" and the wonderfully strong and yet beautiful "Flowerz". But the Cd also has a number of hidden gems. "Summertime" has the most evocotive, soothing bassline and, dare I say it, summer vocals and melodies. "Psychic Bounty Killaz" sums up the way Mr Helden currently feels abount dance music. The track begins with a strong trance beat to which a number of gangsters can be heard to shoot the dancers with machine guns. The funky, bass then kicks in and we are thrust into a "real" house track. Armand has said that he feels that the dance music industry has stopped moving forward and is stuck on the increasingly bland trance and commercial house. In my opinion we are still moving but if it was not for Armand Van Helden we would have stopped. This will be hailed as a ground breaking album when we wake from our trance coma. (Check out his new album. If "Koochy" is anything to go by we will have to start marking out of six stars!)

5.0 out of 5 stars The album of 1999, 29 May 2000
By A Customer
Wow! As soon as the pumping beat of Mother Earth started I knew this album would be good. I bought this album on the strength of Armand's soundclash with Fatboy Slim, not on the two weekest tracks which were used as singles. And if You Don't Know Me can be called weak on this album, you just know the rest will be bangin'. The standout has got to be Necessary Evil, who thought the saw could make one of the best tracks of '99 if not the decade. If this album is just a warm up to Killing Puritans then it looks like 2000 will be Armand's year.

3.0 out of 5 stars Stick with it, 3 Feb 2000
By A Customer
Fortunately I bought this to broaden my musical horizons and not on the strength of the awesome single 'U Don't Know Me'. However, this and 'Flowerz' are the two tracks that really stand out at first listen. Stick with it and the other tracks will grow on you over time. I am growing to appreciate this as an album, rather than for the singles off it. This should become one of those timeless, reliable albums that you will never grow bored with and continue to enjoy more and more with each play. If it wasn't for the rather annoying (in my opinion) self-indulgencies thrown in this would be a five star.
