Awesome 22 Jan 2010
By Taka - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Tankobon Hardcover
I don't know how he does it, but it's good. Really, really good. I was sucked into it from the very beginning and had a hard time putting it down. I can't wait to read the next volume.

Here, you'd see the master at work. His signature surrealism is there, as well as parallel narratives like in Hardboild Wonderland and the End of the World and Kafka on the Shore.

But Murakami does something new in this book. It's told in the third person point of view. And - get this - one of the main characters is female.

This is also the first time I read Murakami in Japanese. I must say reading him in the original Japanese is quite different from doing it in English. I really like it.

I have to read till the end to say anything definitive about the novel in its entirety, but so far, it's awesome and I'm enjoying the ride.
Murakami is back 15 Feb 2012
By Eduardo Yoshikawa - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Tankobon Hardcover
I could hardly read this first volume in Japanese this time, and it was great! This is not the first time Murakami writes in third person's view. There are two parallel stories, Tengo is a writer and is reviewing a romance wrote by "Fukaeri" another is about Aomame, she is an office lady and has an interesting active life. Seems by the end of this first volume that the two stories somehow will intersect each other in the next volumes.
