Product Description

1989 is a touchstone. On Taylor's fourth album, her songwriting and sonic evolution impresses more than ever before. Heavily keyboard and beat driven, the pop sensibilities that have always been the hallmark of Taylor’s music now move front and centre on 1989. The standard version comes packed with a jewel case , a pack of photos and a outer cardboard case (called an O Card).

I'd heard so much about this album that I decided to find some of the tunes to see what the fuss was about. That wasn't so easy! But I was really impressed by Out of the Woods and I got the impression, from the album title, that it would be eighties inspired. As I am a BIG eighties fan, I thought why not?! So, today I was in town and..
Well, in short, I am really pleased that I took the plunge after only hearing three songs. It is a great eighties themed pop album. My top two favourite songs are Out of the Woods and All You Had To Do Was Stay, and yet Style, I Wish You Would and This Love are also on my list to recommend skipping to. There's only one song I wasn't keen on, but even that wasn't terrible!
It's 80's pop brought into 2014 :)
Overall, it's fab!

I may be pushing 40 but I love this album! I was starting to dispair as all the albums I have bought this year have been one-listen wonders and then put back on the shelf, but not this one. My favourite track is Style as it has a 80s sound to it and I grew up listening to the music of that era. I sing along loud and proud to all of them but mainly Blank Space, Style, Out of the Woods and Shake it Off. Wildest Dreams and You are in Love have an ethereal sound and are a nice come down from the more lively pop numbers. Taylor also sings the lyrics clearly which is great as so many others just mumble and sound bored in their songs.

I am not familar with Taylor's country music days so so I have nothing to compare this too but I am very happy I found this as I love it and I think it will have to be prised from my CD player with a crowbar!

I think the title means it will be played 1989 times before I get bored of it!

Taylor Swift- country star, superstar, now pop star. No matter what, she always delivers a solid album and this just show cases everything she has learnt from 8 years of her career. Do not judge this one on Shake It Off, not only is that song by far the weakest on the album, but does not tie in with the sound of the album.
I will do a track-by-track review:
Welcome to New York- Polished, 80's pop is the best way to describe this one.
Blank Space- a funny number that makes fun of the way she is portrayed in the media. Catchy and sugary.
Style- Slick, throwback and indulgent (in a good way) are some words that come to mind when you hear this. To me, reminiscent of the late 70s/ early 80s.
Out of the Woods- This track tells a story through both the lyrics and the music, portraying a frantic, anxiety-driven relationship.
All You Had To Do Was Stay- If there is any song that would make you want to dance and cry at the same time, it would be this.
Shake It Off- I'm going to assume you know this one.
I Wish You Would- Catchy in an un-obvious way. Synth-guitar driven pop at it's finest. This song shows you do not need to compromise good lyrics to make pop music.
Bad Blood- Not a favourite. The most angry on the album, while the lyrics in the chorus lack, the lyrics in the verses are better.
Wildest Dreams- One of the most beautiful songs I have heard in my life.Taylor sings this with a Stevie Nicks type drawl. Brings to mind a 70s California. Lyrics are beautiful, vocals are euphoric and the music is tragically gorgeous.
How You Get the Girl- A fun song, pop at it's best. Gives me a 70s disco feel during the pre-chorus.
This Love- Soulful, beautiful, melancholic. Surprisingly the only song on the album written entirely by Swift.

This is definitely Taylor's best album yet. The transition from country to pop is so smooth and yet Taylor hasn't lost herself in the progress as so many artists seem to do lately. She's still written and helped to produce all of the songs on the album so you still have the feeling that you're reading her diary which is something that her fans can really relate to. The songs are insightful and fun and the 3 song memos on the deluxe are brilliant, giving fans an insight into the ways the songs on the album got there. I love all of Taylor's albums and this is so, completely, 100% definitely the best one yet. It's worth every single penny. If you haven't heard this album yet you need to!

I have been a huge Taylor Swift fan since the release of Speak Now and have loved everything she has released, including her Christmas EP and the live EP on iTunes and Taylor has never disappointed me. Every album she has released since Speak Now has always become my favorite album released that year, 1989 is definitely this years best album for me. There really isn't a single track out of the 16 that I dislike, get bored of or that I wouldn't listen to repeatedly. Each track has been well written and produced and shows how much Taylor's vocals have improved since her first album was released. I very highly reccommend buying 1989, you will not be disappointed.

Welcome To New York, Style, Bad Blood, I Know Places, Wonderland, You Are In Love and New Romantics are my absolute favorite tracks from the album.

This album changed my mind forever about Taylor Swift, you have to give her credit for producing so many catchy and likeable songs to even people who try really hard to stay away from mainstream radio music. Especially her song 'Blank Space' is a winner and if you haven't checked out the beautifully directed music video, I encourage you to do so! I personally like the direction she's moving into to and definitely do not agree that these songs could have been sung by anyone. The instrumental music alone is a classical resemblance of the 80s with its guitar and drum sound and has nothing to do with the electro-techno pop song mixes of today. For anyone who wants a change from that and songs he/she will actually remember- you've got the right album.
