I was lucky enough to be at this meeting, the last final to be held at Wembley. I always remembered what a brilliant meeting it was. On a track that was deemed difficult to pass because of the flat corners with no camber, it show what's possible when you really put the effort in. That night Bruce Penhall was a revellation and thoroughly deserved to win. Watching the film, Two points spring to mind:- 1, There were so many more good riders in them days, all capable of winning any race and 2, Why was there so many mechanical breakdowns? Nobody would have stopped Penhall winning that night, but the minor placing would've changed.
This did not spoil my enjoyment, and I would thoroughly recommend this film to any Speedway fan be them new or old..
