Biography

"The story began in Harold Macmillan’s “never had it so good” ’50s Britain. It should be fiction: four teenagers with no more than eight O’Levels between them, running and biking and busing and busking all over Liverpool in search of new chords and old guitars and half-decent drum kit and any gig at all.

They were determined to amount to something – in George’s words “we just had this amazing inner… Read more in Amazon's The Beatles Store

Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Even as the Beatles began heading toward an inevitable break-up, their prolific ways continued; this two-disc look back only skims the surface of their later achievements. Excerpts from Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, the white album, Abbey Road, and Let It Be compete for space with classic singles that do as much or more to prove their eclecticism: the epic ballad "Hey Jude", the plaintive "Strawberry Fields Forever", straight rock & roll of all stripes from the plainspoken "Revolution" and "Get Back" to the surreal "Come Together". Decades after the split, this (and its companion set of 1962-1966 cuts) remains a favoured introduction for young listeners and a key sampler for veteran fans. --Rickey Wright

Definitive Beatles 5 May 2007
Format:Audio CD
The Blue Album 1967-70 is an essential in any collector's repertoire. Where as the Red Album 1962-66 covers the Beatles pop classics during the early Sixties these latter songs encompass the most creative years by the Beatles encapsulating the more serious side of their musical talents. From the poetic `Across the Universe' to the Pepper classic `A Day in the Life' to their anthem, `Hey Jude' this album never fails to satisfy discerning listeners due to its great diversity.

This and the red album form the backbone of any decent CD collection.

If this got stuck in my CD player, I wouldn't complain - endless Lady Madonna, Hey Jude and Lucy in the Sky - heaven!

The Blue Album 31 Dec 2011
By Andrew Whitby TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD
The Beatle's Blue album was my first introduction musically to The Beatle's as a teenager so I have a lot of fondness for both this album and The Red Album.

The album is a kind of best of The Beatle's between 1967 and 1970 containing both singles and album tracks to give a sense of their output during this time. The songs and time period are by no means defintive so fan's still do need the albums from this or a compilation album for the singles such as the 1 or alternatively Past Masters Volume 2.

For a taster of The Beatle's catalogue you can do no better than this album and the remastered artwork and liner notes are a nice bonus.
