This clever machine can be used for any size of apple, because the peeling blade adjusts itself to the contours of the apple automatically. The peeled, sliced, and cored apple falls away easily, leaving just the core attached to the prongs. Simply pull the core off the prongs, pop on a fresh apple and continue.
The suction base which holds the machine securely onto your work surface, so you have both hands free.
Use it when you need a lot of apples to make pies or crumbles. Or use it to amuse and fascinate your children, and encourage them to eat more fruit, as they do in Australia. There it is known as an Apple Slinky Machine, because of the familiar spiral shape the apple is cut into. They are popular in Australian school canteens, where they get used at a commercial rate day after day.
It can also be used to peel evenly shaped potatoes or you could make potato slinkies, which would be fabulous deep fried.
