if you need a 'greatest hits' album for Poppies tracks, then this is probably the best one to fit the bill. Tracks include get the girl, kill the baddies, karmadrome, dance of the mad and 92F. All great tracks ahead of their time and the influence for pretenders to their crown such as jesus jones, emf and so on......

There are a few PWEI collections available now, but this is the original 'best of' from back in the day. It was this record that really got me in to the band - purchased, if I remember correctly, in the time shortly after the R.S.V.P. and Ich Bin Ein Auslander singles.
The only real down side to this collection is that it does only cover the band's major label period. For many people though that will be quite sufficient and I would certainly say that this was their best period. It also has a nice flow which you don't always get in such compilations. From their first real classic tune Def.Con.One through to top ten chart hit Get The Girl! Kill The Baddies! this really does show the best of the band and is a great place to start if you're new to 'the Poppies'. After that you can move on to the recently released Cherry Red reissues and take a peak at their earlier and later material. First album proper Box Frenzy is a fantastic record full of fun and imagination but lacks the production values and general sonic intensity than you'll get here. After this compilation was originally released (around 1993?) we had the bands final album Dos Dedos Mis Amigos. That one really raised the intensity and veers in to 90s style industrial rock at times but won't be to everyone's taste. It was for the most part a bleak record and pointed towards the groups eventual collapse a year or so later.

A compilation of earlier PWEI material. 16 Different flavours of hell, is own just begining to sound dated. If you want to listen to music that influenced a larger part of the dance/rock crossover of today buy this.
