This really is a great little gadget with several useful functions.

1. Use an Ethernet cable to connect to a broadband router or hotel wired internet connection. The unit will then allow wifi enabled devices to connect to the internet.
2. Plug in a USB stick or memory card reader and access the data on it wirelessly.
3. Plug in a USB power cord to charge your phone or tablet.
4. Use as a wifi repeater/extender by plugging into Powerline adapter.

These worked straight away without any need to access the web interface of the router, but

5. My main reason for buying it was for its ability to connect to a USB 3G dongle and wirelessly transmit an internet connection to my phone and tablet, neither of which are otherwise able to connect to the internet.
This was not plug and play, but an email to the seller (CoolZone) was quickly responded to with a link to the User Manual. This was in pdf format and therefore much easier to read than the one supplied with the router. The illustrations of the web interface were different but it also conveyed the important information that if you are not on the Chinese mainland you will need to input the apn, user name and password in order to connect to the internet. So, here's what to do:

Push the small white button on the RHS of the unit to the middle position C.Connect the device via the micro usb cable (supplied) to a USB port on your computer or USB power plug in order to charge it up. You can check the charge remaining in the battery by pressing the small white button to the left of the first one. The blue light display will give you a rough idea of how much charge there is left.

When it's charged up (or leave it plugged in to the power supply), push the white button to the R position.

Hotel abroad only has wired internet in room and wanted this to create wifi hotspot for ipad.
Tried it at home.just plugged in cable from router and ipad detected it no problem.
Very easy to use which is just as well because you would need a very powerful magnifyer to read the enclosed instructions.
Hope it works as well on holiday
It appears to do exactly as described at a very reasonable price

Its fairly easy to set up, and the wifi seems to work perfectly. The battery life is excellent. However, the problem is it doesn't work with the modem (E173). The modem works fine by itself. It also works fine with another TP Link desktop router. But not with this. Tried all the settings that have been suggested, but it simply does not make a connection. So... what to do? It was pretty cheap so buy a better one presumably and give this one away.

Subsequently: got a different modem, moved the sim card over, and it works perfectly. How you find out which modems will work with it is a mystery, because the same modem that works with this one does not work with another device of a similar sort which cost twice as much. Admittedly that one has a much bigger battery.

If you can get a modem that works with it, it is brilliant. Fully featured router, small, light and easy to set up. This one is better than the more expensive Tecknet higher capacity one because you can get at the settings. Enthusiastic recommendation now, and amazing for the price.

This product failed to work on any of the dongles in Zambia specifically Huawei E173 and E3351 from airtel and mtn. It seems to only respond to chinese cracked dongles and not those supplied by our Telecoms companies and ISP's. I currently only use it as a travel charger for my iphone.

Useful little gadget once you figure out how to use it as the instructions are in Chinese but once you find the English option in the web interface it's intuitive.
I got it working with my Vodafone dongle by manually inputting APN, user and passwords. I wasn't sure if it was going to work as I have to use a connection program if the dongle is plugged directly into my laptop but it works fine. I can now put the device where the signal is strongest and use my laptop on wifi.
Also handy is the feature of plugging in a usb stick and be able to browse the contents of the stick with my phone over wifi.
I've not tried using it for converting an Ethernet connection to wifi yet but next time I go on holiday I shall be taking it with me incase the hotel only has wired internet.

I bought this thinking it was a mobile hotspot. It isn't. It's a router only with an emergency battery attached and I only use the battery part.
The instruction leaflet is inextremely small print.
