No one could tell this story better than Hong Kong's popular all-rounder, Peter Hall: impeccable - nay, tenacious research -, anecdotes galore, astonishingly comprehensive averages and scores ... all presented against a loving recreation of those heady hey-days of Hong Kong cricket and its cricketers in their vintage prime.

Hall has already proved himself as an author of stature with his equally thoroughly researched and stirring account of Hong Kong's leading Cantonese families and their contribution to the success and reputation of the former colony. Indeed, his index reads like a Who's Who of anyone who was anyone in the Territory. In tackling the cricket scene, Peter matches his authorial and researcher skills to his great love, cricket, to which he gave so much over the years. No one who saw him bat on one of his ferocious "On"days will forget the sheer exhilaration of watching a master at work. This is for cricketing enthusiasts everywhere and a fine tribute to those dashing sportsmen of a glorious time.
