Bought these for Bonfire night for the kids but after opening the pack to see they use a wire frame (99% bio-degradeable??) decided not to use. Read up on news websites that this type can do harm to livestock when they land in fields and are consumed by animals. The wire becomes lodged in their windpipe and can cause severe injury or death according to bbc website as well as the national farmers union. They may be a magical experience for kids but eventually they land somewhere and have to be dealt with. Please read up on them before you buy. I'm sure you kids would be crushed if they found out one of their lanterns had led to the death of an animal....mine definitely would.

If you havent tried these before - go for it! They are such fun and unusual (although getting more popular),for a personal touch get everyone to write thoughts or memories....Fab.

Absolute crap. Didn't even take off the ground. And when they did take off the wick that you light just falls off and continues to burn where ever it lands. Normally in a bush, or in someone else's garden. Quite dangerous .

rubish lanterns
these lanterns dont work, I have tried 3 times to get them to go up and the 3rd time I even heated the lantern up with a hair drier, they just dont work
