Product Description

Review

Have fun recycling any colorful papers you have and make some delightful greetings cards. Iris folding is one of the most tenacious of cardmaking techniques; other trends come and go but there is something special about being able to make something out of practically nothing! This a compendium of three of those wee square books published by Forte Uitgevers in the Netherlands that virtually all cardmakers know and love. Iris Folding For Fun takes color as a theme and shows what can be done by sorting your papers into groups by color. Make cards depicting Chinese lanterns, hedgehogs, matruskas, clogs, Christmas baubles and more for an eye-popping, vibrant look that is sure to appeal to the young and young at heart. Iris Folding With Love focuses on cards for special occasions such as good luck, new baby, driving test pass, invitation and more. Finally, Iris Folding: A Full Year features items that can be decorated for different seasons rather than occasions. Fill vases and buckets with punched-out spring and summer flowers or have them growing around a garden gnome, depict a graceful swan or daffodil, make an autumnal chestnut or a Christmas candle. At the start of each mini book you can find instructions on how it is done if you are a beginner, and you are sure to find plenty to inspire you whatever your level or experience.-Myshelf.com

Product Description

lots of ideas 1 May 2011
By K. Platt TOP 50 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
Building on the success of her first book, this has more ideas for iris-folded cards. This popular way of making cards is fully explored with ideas for all kinds of special occasions. A tour de force in iris-folding. The instructions are clear and the photography is good. This review first appeared on Karen Platt's book review website.

NOT for the beginner! 13 May 2011
Format:Paperback
I picked up this book thinking it might be a nice craft to learn. as I'd never seen iris folded cards before. However I found this particular book next to useless as there were no clear instructions on the basic techniques. I had to find a YouTube video that showed those! The chapters were poorly arranged with headings that seemed irrelevant to the content sometimes. The templates were too small unless you want to make TINY cards. Yes, you could scan them and blow them up but why should I need to?

This book would be better re-titled as a supplement to a basic technique book and this statement shown in bold letters on the front cover. I would not have wasted my time with this book if I had realised it wasn't the first in a series!

In fact, you can find all the basic techniques, HowTo videos and plenty of free templates on the internet for iris cards, no need to buy this poorly put together book.

I get books like this for my wife quite often.. If she likes it, she's happy. Therefore, I, too, become happy. She likes this one very much. Gentlemen, make good choices like this, letting her check out the title and the more detailed view, and all will continue well.
