Biography

Judging from their name, Suicidal Tendencies were never afraid of a little controversy. Formed in Venice, CA, during the early '80s, the group's leader from the beginning was outspoken vocalist Mike Muir. The outfit specialized in vicious hardcore early on -- building a huge following among skateboarders, lending a major hand in the creation of skatepunk -- before turning their focus ... The first thing fans will want to know is which suicidal have turned up for this record? The thrashers, the punks, the funks, the crossovers? The simple answer is all of them. This is one hell of a catchy cd that seems to take the best of all areas and delivers them all with aplomb. Its instantly catchy, infectious and most of all its fun, and this is what suicidal do best. Ive been listening to this cd with a grin on my face because ive fallen in love with suicidal once more.
Mike is as cyco as ever, mike clarke takes a back seat, but hey dean pleasant total rips up some brutal lead fills with the most outrageous wah-wah. There lovely slap, funk bass and awesome drumming from the band. Its all tight and clinical, and a sound only a band with this much experience could produce. One thing i will say is that its not just another rehash of old stuff, this is a very strong, positive, step in a new direction whilst obviously doffing their caps at the old-school. I was also very pleased to hear an art of rebellion-esque track too. Dont hesitate to buy 13 if you once loved this band, coz i guarantee suicidal will be your favourite band all over again.

This is really splitting opinions, but for me it is classical, so so so good, my wife has always criticised my taste in music and says it sounds the same blah blah blah and that i dont listen to different types of music! But I disagree, I will readily admit my love of all things thrash closely followed up with with some old school hardcore but to me Suicidal is my musical diversification, Funk, punk, groove, ska mixed with a healthy dose of metal is about as diverse as you can get (if your reading this review then you will know what i mean). My first ST buy was Join the Army in 1987, I loved it and also loved their next three releases and their first self titled release, after that things took a turn for the worse, the Art of Rebellion was a little to radio friendly and Suicidal for life was the opposite, Freedumb and Free your soul were fair to middlin, nothing more, but i was content that Suicidal had left a good legacy what with classics like How Will I laugh and Lights to keep my musical diverification fully intact, I bought 13 in hope, and i got much much more, this is a link straight from ST in their prime and it is brilliant, catchy and above all fun, Ive seen the bad reviews here but these reviwers also went on to review Volbeat, Heaven Shall Burn and Alkaline Trio - enough said!!!!

I didn't even know they were releasing any new material, but bought this when I stumbled upon it.
Thumping bass, Suicidal rifts and good old Mike Muir, what more do you need!
Plenty of classic Suicidal songs, without any turkeys.

Would recommend.

Amazing album all round, from start to finish. Another quality performance from Mike & co and although this album was a long time coming it was worth the wait!

13 was a long time in the making but what a wait. After a couple of poor releases I was a little worried about getting this but after I hit play and track one had finished my worries faded fast. What we have is 13 tracks that mix every thing that st infectious and cyco have and put into a mix for a new direction.. Every thing comes together on this album. Just hit the buy it button and get some suicidal into your life..
Suicidals back and we all know that's a good thing
Come on shake it every body it's time to work the demons on out
