Book Description

13 stories that will make a chill run down your spine and stand your hair on end. It's horror that makes you think, horror with a surprise ending, horror that keeps you up at night. These are tales of revenge, of betrayal, of the power of love (or is it hate?) to overcome even Time and Space. Short and not-so-sweet, these stories will stick with you long after you finish reading them.

More About the Author

I've been a writer all my life but I didn't start to write fiction seriously until I turned 50 and realized the clock was ticking for my lifelong dream of publishing my own books.
I discovered flash fiction then, and I became an expert at writing stories in 100 words or less. These really short stories bored me after awhile, and I went to longer stories.
What do I like in a story? I like dialogue, strong characters, and a twist at the end. I like to write horror stories, but I also like wacky, offbeat humor. Lately I've been writing stories that would have been too sentimental for me to write five years ago. I'm evolving, I guess.
I hope you like what you find in my work. I won't stick to one style of writing, or one topic. I like to keep changing and growing, and I guarantee I'll be publishing something different six months from now than what you see on my author page today. Come back often; you're bound to find something new every time.

5.0 out of 5 stars BITE SIZE HORROR AT ITS BEST 22 Sept. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is an excellent book for the Kindle where I could dip in and out of the collection while on the train or queueing at the shops. Gone are the days when I have time to read a tome by Charles Dickens and I found the flash fiction in this book to be perfect for a good, quick read. The stories are well written and do not always follow the horror form you might expect. My favourite story was "The Smell of Love" -- great stuff. Check out "Conclusions" for a spooky, witty look at modern relationships. I see that this book is in the Top 100 Kindle lists and I imagine that others have enjoyed the quick shots of horror that this offers. Highly recommended to all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical horror stories! 20 Sept. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I absolutely love a good horror story and this book provides 13 A+ stories to share with mates and family. These are not your run of the mill "campfire" stories, but that being said, you might consider using these stories at the next campfire stories for a story that actually scares people. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's not longer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining shorts 22 Sept. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
There's a little Stephen King in here, a little Ray Bradbury. Each story may only be a few pages long but they're all great to read, particularly the one about a man visiting the dentist, which taps into the primal fear we all have of the dentist. Oh, and the one about a boy and his uncle and the "thing" in the basement. A great little read, and I can see why it's a best seller, though I wish there were more stories in the collection.

13 Horror Stories - Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat

As the title states - 13 Horror Stories is made up of 13 horror stories. They range from The Beauty Part, which is a story about a woman who didn't accept rejection, to Stuck, which is a story about a man who can't get the image of a tree, a car and the moonlight out of his head. You also have The Thing in the Basement. You can imagine what the outcome will be when Billy is sent to the basement as punishment - or can you? The Box can bring knowledge to the one who opens it -- or maybe not. In Conclusions - will the wife allow the girlfriend to move in with her and her husband? And the stories go on.......

13 Horror Stories is an amusing book that may be short but it's packed full of horror.
