About the Author

Des Hammill is a New Zealander who now lives in Exmouth, England with his English wife, Alison. A professional engineer, Des has spent a lifetime building and trouble-shooting high performance road and race car engines of all types. His practical, down to earth approach, ensures his guidance is clear and that time and money is not wasted on modifications and components that don't deliver real, cost effective performance gains. Des also takes his own photographs and creates his own line drawings.

Quite easy to review this book . It's OK and Des Hamill is an adequate writer .I have enjoyed several of Des's other works . Unfortunately he isn't David Vizard and this book doesn't stand comparison with Vizard's masterpiece on BMC A-Series modification which is an essential reference work for anyone with a serious interest in the A-Series engine . It is a shame that this book is overshadowed , unfortunately it is .

Excellent reference book for rebuilding and upgrading your evergreen Mini A Series engine. Lots of close up colour photos throughout the book.

Highly recommended for the home engine builder.

This book has some basic engine building skills with a few of the things that can make the A series a better street performer. Definatly not near the same caliber book as Dave Vizard's "Tuning the A-Series Engine". If you know a little about the A-Series then this book is probably not for you!

The information was current and helped me complete my SCCA GP MG Midget.
There was a good deal of information about A+ A series engines which were not imported into the US, and hence not
as helpful as the info on earlier engines.
