This is the second unit I have purchased - as an addition, not a replacement.
There may well be better made and technically better units available but value for money I doubt there is anything to touch these at the price. I am not a professional videographer but do use pro-sumer cameras to video various projects. I have previously used a small on camera Sony video light and a seperate halogen video light, which I bought about 15 years ago (still provides good service) but uses an external lead acid battery power supply. That is not always convenient to use in filming conditions so a more portable lightweight solution was needed.
This unit more than foots the bill and can use use the Sony L series NP-F570 & 970 batteries for extended length usage. The NP-F570 seems to give in excess of 90 minutes full-on usage - not yet tested duration of the NP-F970, though it should be around 3 times as long. Obviously, at lower output intensity the usage time will be longer, whatever battery used. The unit comes with 3, not 2, filters - 2 in a wallet and one already in place on the front of the unit. I have not fully tested these but so far seem to meet most needs of light filters/diffusers.
The mounting bracket does require getting used to - and double checking that the thumb wheel adjusters are fully tightened (not over-tightened) - which at first can be a little tricky.
I did a fair bit of research before buying the first of these units from Amazon and found that I could get better - at around 5 to 10 times the price - though not significantly better.
I recently signed up for the 'next day delivery service' and it indeed arrived the next day, having ordered at around 17:05. However, I purchased the first unit some months ago using standard delivery and it arrived the following day - not bad having ordered on a Friday morning.
If, like most non-professional videographers, you have to work to a tight budget then these units are an excellent investment. If money is no object, you probably won't be checking here anyway, then there are bigger, better, more robust units available, though I believe you would still find these units do an excellent job at incredibly good value for money.
