Product Description

Produced by Intense Productions, '12' follows the story of twelve fighters who are brought together to compete in an illegal underground tournament for the prize of £500,000. The fighters come from a variety of backgrounds, each hand-picked for a gruelling no-holds barred competition, intended to push each fighter to their limits. Each fighter has their own reasons for competing, and each give everything they have to take the prize... but there can be only one winner!

Written, Produced and Directed by Chee Keong Cheung, principal photography on '12' was completed after 35 days in the UK. The film features a total of 13 fights, with the fights arranged by Dave Forman, whose credits include Warner Bros. 'Batman Begins', 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' and 'The Last Samurai'. Additional fight arranging was undertaken by Matt Routledge ('Mersey Copy', 'Crazy in Love') and Mark Strange ('The Medallion', 'Twins Effect', 'Displaced'). The film was photographed by Jake Corbett ('Ninety Days') and BAFTA award winning Simon Dennis ('Woman in Winter, 'Reverb') in Lancashire and London.

The cast on '12' features Mark Strange ('Batman Begins', 'Displaced'), 3 times World Kickboxing Champion Nathan Lewis ('Fight School', 'Batman Begins'), Joey Ansah ('Bourne Ultimatum', 'Spooks'), Danny John-Jules ('Blade 2', 'Red Dwarf') and Sophie Linfield ('Football Factory', 'The Monk').

An intensive post production period followed principal photography. The picture edit undertaken by RTS award winning Mark Towns (UK TV series, 'The Apprentice') of Mimic Media was completed after 14 weeks (with 6 weeks assembly).

A total of 14 weeks of sound post production was undertaken at S2S Post in Brick Lane, London, working with sound designer and mixer Vince Watts ('Sixteen Years of Alcohol', 'A Woman in Winter') and sound and foley editor Stephen Goldsmith ('Reverb', 'Ninah's Heavenly Delights') to create a highly detailed layer of sound to help draw audiences into the action. Additional sound effects work was undertaken by Vanesa Lorena Tate ' Tristan + Isolde', 'Harry Potter') of Tate Music.

Worldwide sales on '12' are handled by Park Entertainment. '12' has to date been released in numerous territories worldwide, including Japan, Latin America, Poland, Australia, Germany, Middle East and Eastern Europe and the USA where it was released by City Lights and Warner/Elektra/Atlantic Corporation (WEA).

One of the most impressive and highly anticipated full blooded martial arts films made in the UK --Matthew Dawson - Impact

This is one trauma-filled fight fest that doesn t pull anypunches. Twelve hand-picked fighters will step into the ring, but only one can emerge victorious. --This is one trauma-filled fight fest that doesn t pull anypunches. The fight scenes are fast and furious and they are about themost realistic and brutal I have ever seen put to film. --Patrick Ricketts - Video Views

4.0 out of 5 stars A homage to classic 1980s action cinema!, 23 Sep 2010
This review is from: 12 [DVD] (DVD)
In homage to classic 1980s action cinema, 12 follows the story of twelve individual fighters brought together to compete in an illegal underground tournament for the prize of half a million pounds. Throughout the gruelling competition each fighter will be pushed to their physical and psychological limits as they make and break alliances, fuelled by the goal of eliminating the competition.

Broken from the same mould as martial arts classics like Kickboxer and Blood Fist, 12 is a relentless, adrenaline-fuelled fight fest that takes no prisoners. Following the simple story of twelve underground fighters competing for a cash prize, the unique characters and their individual stories are told through strong characterization and flashback, thrown against some of the most brutal action sequences witnessed in a long time.

Also featuring a strong cast of up and coming British action stars like Mark Strange (Displaced, Batman Begins), Joey Ansah (The Bourne Ultimatum) and Nathan Lewis (Fight School), the talented team is shown in an incredible light under the heavily visual style of director, Chee Keong Cheung. For fans of martial arts and action cinema, generally, 12 is a ground breaking addition to a hugely successful genre.
