You can take off from the launch pad, separate the detachable fuel tank and booster rockets, and deploy the satellite with unfolding antenna and solar cell panels. Shuttle model features realistic engines, retractable landing gear, an opening cockpit with seats for 2 astronauts, opening cargo compartment with a crane that can hold the satellite and a ground maintenance vehicle. Great toy, holds together well unlike some Lego models (Star Wars stuff for example), has plenty of play value with working undercarriage, bay doors, robot arm and satellite. Cockpit roof detaches to allow access to the two pilot minifigs, and the boosters and fuel tank are easily attached and detached for launches and orbits.
Really don't understand why this is not for sale to under 16s, I built it with my five year old, who did 95% of the work, it's a great little kit that a space obsessed child of ANY age would enjoy building and playing with. I suppose it took a few hours, but as with all Lego it's time well spent.

Seen it, not built it, but it is on my grandaughter's Christmas list so I just wanted to advise other buyers that it is way cheaper from Lego direct (£82), with FREE delivery, like most big Lego sets you see on Amazon!

I purchased this Lego set for my 9 year old son. He had looked at it prior to Christmas, saw the price and said "I can only dream of getting something like that!". It was well worth every penny spent just to see his face when he opened it! Although it is recommended for 16 and up, at 9 he was able to put it together without only a little help from his older brother (age 19) and it was finished in about 6 hours total. I would recommend this for any young boy who loves Legos!

I bought this primarily for me but knew that my son and I would play with it a lot. It took about 4.5 hours to complete, with the shuttle portion taking about 3 hours. The detail is amazing and it's fairly sturdy, but it's a Lego product, so if it falls apart, you just put it back together. Compared to other Lego kits, for the price, this is a must buy when you consider what you're getting. Shuttle, fuel tank, solid rocket boosters, robotic arm, satellite, working cargo bay doors, movable shuttle jets, landing gear, 2 mini fig astronauts for the cockpit, remote chase vehicle, mini fig driver. Well worth it. If you're a Lego fan, buy it, you won't regret it.

When I saw it on the box,I thought it looked great, when I started building it, it looked even better, when I finally finished the masterpiece, it looked like a Lego GOD. The details on this Lego set are amazingly beautiful and I didn't regret buying it at all and highly recommend it to children or adults!
