plenty of interesting activities for various levels of math ability or focus of interest. promotes independant learning, but will need support structure if intended to be used in the classroom with anything other than motivated students.

Source for Mathematical Projects

In our book-based instruction of math, there are some sources for math extensions, but it seems they're often mindlessly frilly or so involved or esoteric that most students are buried clueless and consequently uninterested. The Bolt and Hobbs book has quite a variety of interesting and possible (can do) excursions. Often the projects are couched in the modern English culture, so they are fun for American kids to read--but completely understandable. This book would fit a wide range of interests and math abilities. A good book gift for teachers and kids who like to read and investigate.
