5.0 out of 5 stars Extra Study Motivation for the CCNA 5 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I used to be a CCNA; I let it expire. Now I'm trapped in the hell that involves recertifying something that I really don't want to! I bought Paul's other book about passing the CCNA in 60 days along with this and I'm essentially bootcamping myself through the material to get it over and done with. In conjunction with GNS3 and some switches, the labs range from the very simple (configuring VTP domains), to more complicated challenge labs introducing a large number of different configuration requirements.

1.0 out of 5 stars not a stand alone product 26 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After buying this I found out it's a follow along to their video collection. There is no answers to the labs only brief instruction, so unless you have their video collection or you know what your doing (and lets be frank the only reason why you would buy this, is if your learning) your be left in the dark.

1.0 out of 5 stars Be prepared to pay more! 21 Feb 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book thinking it would be a great resource alongside others in studying for my CCNA. Well it may have been but I wasn't prepared to pay the extra $30/month for the videos that book is based on.

This book is actually designed to be used along with the video set. If you have bought the book only then you should consider purchasing the accompanying set of videos from the authors website, be prepared to cough up the monthly fee mentioned above.

Feeling quite screwed over on this purchase, will try get a refund.

Absolutely wonderful to get your practice for ccna route and quite simple to get your points.
Anyhow it's pointless to say and you might get supports for your ccna exam.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practice makes perfect 10 Oct 2011

I wanted to leave a review to say thanks to the authors. This book is exactly what I needed and is one of the best purchases I have made in my networking career. I passed the CCNA one year ago and I am continuously trying to a clearer understanding of Cisco networking and more skilled in my career. For me the repetition in this book is great for practicing and learning new concepts along the way. All of the other Cisco networking books I have read were focused on concepts (and rightfully so) along with one lab for each topic (for me that was never enough). I plan to pursue the CCNP but before I go down that road I wanted to make sure I have solid understanding of CCNA level material, this book definitely helped. I have purchased the authors CCNP ROUTE and recently released 101 CCNP Labs book and have been very pleased with the material I have glanced at. Nothing comes for 10 bucks in Cisco networking, except this book. BUY IT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent lab book but with a few typos 10 Jan 2011

While studying for your CCNA, there comes a time where you need to get some hands on with equipment. Some prefer live equipment, others simulators or rack rental time. Whatever path you choose, you'll definitely want to invest in this book!

I took the self-study route and have invested in a few routers and a couple switches but wanted a solid lab book that would help me prepare for my exam. There are plenty of free materials online but I wanted a hard copy that I could take with me and accidentally stumbled upon this book. [...] While shipping took a little longer than expected, I was pleasantly surprised when it finally arrived.

The labs are completed on modest equipment and, at the most, with 3 to 4 routers and a couple switches. The labs start off with the basics: vlans, STP, etc. then naturally progress to more advanced topics. There are a couple labs which, while not directly related to the exam, shed light on areas of IOS that I never knew existed. Learning how to create macros and alias commands are a couple tidbits that I was excited to learn about. Also, the book helped expand my knowledge of IOS and the use of subinterfaces and loopback interfaces to mimic extra subnets. The authors use of different routing protocols on multiple subinterfaces gave me another perspective on how much can be accomplished with just a couple routers and a single cable!

I've made my way through the first 60 labs and will continue them until I've completed them all. I know that I will be well prepared come test day thanks to the guidance of this book. I would like to point out that there are a few grammatical errors and instances where the diagrams used in a given lab are not 100% correct. If you've come this far along in your studies, you should be able to spot them and make the necessary changes on the fly. Even with a few minor blemishes, this book shines bright. If you're in the market for a lab book that will test your knowledge, please give this book a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent labs to prepare for your CCNA! 17 Dec 2009

To anyone who is considering resources to prepare for the Cisco CCNA exam: BUY THIS BOOK!

I have worked my way through the 101 Labs and have found them to be very, very helpful in my preparation for the CCNA Exam. The labs are in logical succession and the diagrams are easy to follow.

I would definitely recommend this resource!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great content but difficult to navigate efficiently in the Kindle version. 1 Jan 2014
By M. Watson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The labs and the lab solutions are in different sections of the Kindle book. So to check your work, or follow the guided part of the lab you have to go to Table Of Contents, then search for the lab solution that corresponds with the lab you are working on (and the solutions are only listed by lab number in the table of contents, not title, like the labs . . . ). Ideally, they would have had a hyperlink on each lab directly to the solution. Or followed each lab directly with the solution sequentially. Nice book, but difficult to navigate. Makes it nearly impossible to gather any kind of momentum.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the Kindle version 13 Dec 2013

I bought the kindle version and wasted my money. Not sure if the content is worth your time, the kindle version is so hard to use, I bought another book.
