This book is essentially a small dictionary. I was expecting some rare but beautiful words, but I found lots of quite ordinary every-day words instead. I'm quite disappointed. I'd imagine it would be good for those with a small vocabulary.

Here are just some words to give you a taste:

calculate, calibre, calm, campaign, candid, capable, capacity, captivate, care, careful, cascade, catalyst, categorical, cater, cause, celebrate, central, centre, certain, certify, challenge, champion, character, charisma, charm, cheerful, cherish, chief, choice, choose, chronicle, circumstance, civil, claim, clarify

safeguard, salient, sample, sanctuary, sanguine, satisfy, savour, scenescent, scope, scrupulous, scrutinize, seamless, secluded, secret, secure, select, self-confident, self-contained, self-control, self-discipline, selfless, self-motivated, self-respect, self-starter, seminal, sensational, sensitive

Useful....but.... 18 Dec 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This seems to me to be a particularly arbitrary list of words. Not clear as to the market it is aimed at - perhaps 13/14 year olds (younger?)EFL?
Will certainly do no-one any harm but could be so much more useful.

Although this book contain many useful information about vocabulary widely used English, I think it is not suitable for beginner and pre-intermediate learners. And also it is suit for learners wanting to learn speaking and writing efficiantly.
