5.0 out of 5 stars Great book to read on many different levels 18 Jan 2013

This book can be read in many different ways
- try it as a competition - how many have you seen?
- use it to make a plan - which films do I want to see next?
- expend your knowledge - you think you're a film buff, bet there are films here that you've never even heard of
- toilet book - great to open randomly and read about what you find
However you read the book, if you have any interest in films then you will enjoy it

5.0 out of 5 stars The Forgotten and the Unknown 27 Jan 2013

This weighty tome provides a wealth of films old and new to dip into. As a recent Lovefilm subscriber I have found it invaluable for populating my rental list, and my wife and I are now viewing and enjoying films we would otherwise have been unaware of or forgotten. Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars An appalling omission. 12 Dec 2013
David Putnam once described East of Eden as the greatest film ever made - undoubtedly an exaggeration: however, the copy of this book that I was browsing did not include this film but did include The Hills Have Eyes - says it all really.

This was recommended to me by someone, and I thought I'd try it. A satisfying neatly compact tome of immense value to those film buffs amongst you. Well printed, superb photographs, and, most of all - VERY informative if not surprising in it's immense knowledge and breadth of information.

Never mind the films..........just read this book. Fascinating insights into stuff I never knew!

A weighty tome, packed with great stills and lots of really interesting movies. Only quibble would be the surprisingly small number of French films (no Betty Blue!!)
