3.0 out of 5 stars Some good tips - too much on horse racing tho 28 Jun 2012
By Dolphe
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Good tips and advice on betting in general, the pitfalls to be avoided and the temperament needed to be able to bet in general. A large portion of the book is on Horse-racing though so if you don't gamble on horses but rather on other sports, quite a bit may not be the most useful.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining bed-time reading. 23 July 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a collection of just about every point of view on betting imaginable. It is fun to pick up and browse but no basis for serious investors. Many of the pieces of advice contradict one another and throughout there is no sustained point of view or argument. No doubt hidden amongst the quotations from so many different sources there are some useful pointers, but they take more finding than the winner of an outsize field in a highly competitive handicap. As far as horseracing is concerned, it seems to me that "The Punter's Friend" by Jack Waterman and "Back a Winning Horse" by Belinda Levez are both much more worthwhile introductions. Nonetheless, there is some humour and a great diversity of opinions here and it is an easy book to pick up and put down as the fancy takes one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good cusiomer service 17 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback
This book makes a fascinating read with lots of common sense advice. It very concisely explains points that crystallise your own ideas. The book did not arrive when expected but after a brief discussion with the vendors a new one was dispatched promptly.
