Now that we are well into spring time in the Northern Hemisphere, people are beginning to think about travel plans for summer. We therefore thought it would be a good time to take a look at two new editions that could result in skipping the usual and routine destinations in favor of what could well be viewed as a trip of a lifetime. Both are from Barrons and are part of the `1001' series of books that often serve as completist's bibles for many adventuresome readers.
The first, `1001 Escapes To Experience Before You Die' (edited by Helen Arnold) details the sights and sounds of many high-end luxury accommodations dotting the planet. From the world's most opulent hotel, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, to the must see Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles, (a place so remote that you have to be lucky enough to be granted permission just to visit for the day!) this volume presents a rich traveler's bounty of the best and most unusual places, hotels, spas, natural retreats and wondrous locations the world has to offer. Unless you are in the travel business (and even then, one who gets to go everywhere for their job!) it's hard to imagine that any one person could possibly visit all these places in one lifetime, which is probably the reason that it takes a number of reporters (reviewers? correspondents?) to actually cover the earth for this volume.
