It is almost impossible to imagine life today without one of the world- changing inventions of the twentieth century - the car. Appealing to car lovers ranging from vintage car spotters to armchair petrol heads, 1001 Cars You Must Drive Before You Die brings you the world's best cars - Chevrolets from the United States, MGs from Italy, Toyotas from Japan, Porsches from Germany, Aston Martins from the UK and Holdens from Australia. In one of the first truly global guides to cars, they are all here: from Henry Ford's pioneering Model T with its hand-cranked starter to the latest hi-tech vehicles, such as the Lexus LS600h hybrid-powered 4x4 sports saloon.

3.0 out of 5 stars A huge subject to cover well......... 14 July 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Several elements of this massive volume are admirably done, such as the majority of the illustrations and the use of different writers for the potted histories of the marques included.
This should have ensured good, accurate coverage of the subjects throughout. But there are many signs that this book was 'rushed' to print - quite a few of the illustrations are wrongly captioned and the historical facts relating to some of the less familiar cars are incorrect.
Good value via Amazon and a good read, but might be worth waiting for a reprint with corrections if you need it to be a reference work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 10 Feb 2014
Format:Paperback
This book has such a comprehensive collection of iconic cars. I hope they release a Kindle edition. It's such a fun book to dip into especially when I want to find out more about a car I've seen in a movie I've watched.
