For a long time, i've been waiting for another great ska-punk band (the suicide machines were an excellent one, but they turned to pop-punk). It's true I was very surprised with this record. For a debut LP, Mouthwash put their best. Songs like Fools Gold, Through the Grey, Babylondon, Live like Kings and One For Sorrow are the best i heard for a long time. Everybody needs Mouthwash.

Mouthwash 1000 dreams this excellent debut album from south London ska-core outfit mouthwash represents the culmination of five years of experimentation with the normally bland ska punk format to produce something new and interesting. Signed to Tim Armstrong's hellcat label after they supported rancid on tour Mouthwash are musically mature whilst still retaining their dynamic energy-they're only 19.Considering the current state of Green Day and the Offspring its reassuring to see a new outfit pushing the boundaries of the genre. 1000 dreams strays from the 3 chords and 'woah' formula on most punk albums and is refreshingly clear of novelty pop punk that serves blink 182 so well. 1000 dreams is filled with interesting foray's into reggae and dub rhythms (they all live 5 minutes from Brixton) as well as musical experiments that are colourful without being pretentious. Flutes, organs and jungle mc's are scattered across the album. With basslines to die for and memorable tunes aplenty 1000 dreams is even better than last years Surrender to the Blender by King Prawn. Standout tunes include the single Fools Gold and Live Like Kings. 1000 Dreams is punk for anyone who can appreciate Bad Brains and ADF more than SlipKnot and Marilyn Manson.....

I'm waiting for the follow up and it has been 3 long bloody years damn it! This band mix up punk and ska very well and come up with some riffs that are simple but just work.
After listening to these 11 songs, in 40 minutes, you might think that you listened to 4,5 different genres. Theres punk, hardcore, reggae, and ska, and bits of pieces of everything else that is good attached.
"We Evolve" is one of my favourite ska tracks but they messed up its order on the album (it fits in much better on Give em the Boot III). The songs rule and they are a great live act, ska fans you should listen.
