Book Description

27 Nov 2008

Many want a simple life, but find it difficult to actually live that way. They fight a constant battle to balance work, family, friends, and other demands on schedules stretched too thin.

Joyce Meyer breaks it down to the simple principle of exercising faith rather than doubt and confidence rather than people-pleasing. She writes from her experience of struggling to balance work, family, friends, and all the other demands on limited time to show readers the simple answer to a simpler life.

Joyce gives these and other practical and easy to implement ideas for finding real joy:

· Live to glorify God

· Let go of what lies behind

· Choose your battles

· Don't be afraid of what people think

· Trust God to change other people

· Live with margin

· Don't be so hard on yourself

· Stop doing things you don't do well

· Remember that God is for you.

Joyce reminds readers that the Bible is full of examples of God's provision and His instruction to focus on one day at a time. She encourages readers to set themselves free by realizing they don't have to do, fix, or manage everything. By embracing the fact that God is on their side they will be encouraged that he will help find a way to live a simple life.

More About the Author

Joyce Meyer is one of the world's leading practical Bible teachers. A New York Times bestselling author, her books have helped millions of people find hope and restoration through Jesus Christ.

Through Joyce Meyer Ministries, she teaches on hundreds of subjects, has authored over seventy books and conducts close to fifteen conferences per year. To date, more than 12 million of her books have been distributed worldwide, and in 2007 over 3.2 million copies were sold. Joyce also has a television and radio program, Enjoying Everyday Life®, that is broadcast worldwide to a potential audience of 3 billion people. In addition, her programs can be accessed around the clock at www.joycemeyer.org.

Having suffered sexual abuse as a child and the pain of an emotionally abusive first marriage, Joyce discovered the freedom to live victoriously by applying God's Word to her life and in turn desires to help others do the same. From her battle with breast cancer to the struggles of everyday life, she speaks openly and practically about her experiences so others can apply what she has learned to their lives.

Over the years, God has provided Joyce with many opportunities to share her testimony and the life-changing message of the Gospel. In fact, Time magazine selected her as one of the most influential evangelical leaders in America. She is an incredible testimony of the dynamic, redeeming work of Jesus Christ. She believes and teaches that regardless of a person's background or past mistakes, God has a place for them and can help them on their path to enjoying everyday life.

Joyce holds an earned PhD in theology from Life Christian University in Tampa, Florida; an honorary doctorate in divinity from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and an honorary doctorate in sacred theology from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Joyce and her husband, Dave, have been married for over forty years, and they are the parents of four grown children. Dave and Joyce Meyer make their home in St. Louis, Missouri.

5.0 out of 5 stars SOUND ADVICE 25 April 2009
By Heather Negahdar VINE VOICE
Format:Hardcover
"Being alone and enjoying quiet time is very healing to our souls. Every one needs regular time to reflect and allow the soul to quiet down."

I always enjoy the books that Joyce Meyer writes and this one is by no means an exception. One Hundred Ways To Simplify Your Life has caused me to look at my life and evaluate it. It has caused me to be more than ever aware of God's presence in my life, and to appreciate that God is only a prayer away in my anzious moments and when burdened with cares. Being being Born Again makes us so very privileged, and we must not take it for granted. Joyce Meyer has great advice in the book for those who want to truly walk in God's light, and want to do it everyday.
I highly recommend this as a wonderful gift for all people.

4.0 out of 5 stars good practical advice 7 May 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I wasn't sure what to expect about this book though I have many Joyce Meyer books and have not been disappointed with any of them. Was it another self-help book? It is not a book I would sit down and read at once - it is more like a practical devotional where you can read one point and think about it. Joyce applies Scripture to everyday situations and personalities and shows how one can focus on what is important and what needs to be discarded. It would be good to read one point a day and think about Joyce's teaching on it through the day.
