Format: Paperback
This fascinating and intellectually stimulating book describes 100 significant ideas that have influenced art from the earliest cave paintings to the internet and street art.
Each idea is explained in an illuminating and accessible text with beautiful reproductions of the relevant art works. The book concludes with a useful glossary of art-historical and other terms that appear in the text.
'100 Ideas That Changed Art' is an inspiring and informative book that should help the general reader acquire a greater understanding and appreciation of art.

It's a super book. It covers an amazing range of artistic styles, many of which I had not really considered as art before reading the book. Inevitably each of the 100 ideas is treated rather superficially, but it is a brilliant overview for anyone who is not an art expert (and maybe offers much food for thought for the expert.)

Beautiful layout, Great Read 2 Feb 2013
By JFMP - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Beautifully laid out, the book throws out a number of ideas, some directly related to art others not, that contributed to the development of plastic arts. Fascinating for those who love art, but have not studied it formally.

Great book 11 May 2013

I purchased this for my high school art classroom not realizing that it contains a section on erotic art. Woops. It's a nice book for a home library as well.

I bought this, along with a few of the other "100 ideas" books, to keep on my tables to spurs of inspiration and to entertain any guests I have. This is a friend favorite.

This Book Would Make a Far Better iPad/iPhone App or for a Computer. 12 Nov 2014
By Verygoods - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I really dislike criticizing things - but - this book should have been much better. The content is, well, ok - but the crowded layouts really bothers me - there is no room on each page to breathe, look or think. There is too much on a page and the lack of white borders give the feel that this book was short changed by the publisher. I bought the book based on how I saw parts of it on line, which was great - but the actual book lacks the fine inviting qualities I saw in that computer tease.

To the point - this book would make a far better app for an IPad/iPhone or a computer.
