About the Author
Kev Reynolds is a freelance writer, photojournalist and lecturer whose first title for Cicerone Press (Walks and Climbs in the Pyrenees) appeared in 1978 and is still in print. He has published many books on the Alps, a series of trekkers' guides to Nepal and, nearer to home, several guides on walking in southern England. A member of the Alpine Club, Austrian Alpine Club and the Outdoor Writers' Guild, he is also first honorary member of the British Association of European Mountain Leaders.

This is a good book if you want to experience Alpine walking, perhaps for the first time. The 100 routes are all day routes, throughout the Alps, and go to some of the most interesting mountain huts, where you can have a meal or snack, or even stay the night. The book tells you what to expect at the hut, and more information about the landscape - which you don't get from a map.

All this book does is provides a detail of a walk from the valley bottom to a hut and then tells you a little about the hut. I'm sure the target audience could plan the route using a map, as required whether you have the book or not.

Bought this in anticipation of some hut to hut hiking in Switzerland this summer. I've only browsed it, since it's not the kind of book you read cover to cover, but it appears to be very well organized and useful as a reference....exactly what I was looking for.
