Why do I say 90 hits would have been better. Let me first of all say this should be a 5 star album. There are loads of brilliant "real" disco classics on this comp that I have never seen on any other!Deodato "Whistle Bump" immense!John Davis "Love Magic" Amazing,KLEEER "Keep your body working" Superb! Zapp "More bounce to the Ounce" OMG!
Mick Jackson's original version of "Blame it on the Boogie" never seen it apart from the original LP.
There are lots like these. The only thing that let's it down is the brutal editing. There are too many that sound like the start of the original 12" and just as you are beginning to get into the track ( at 2 mins 46 secs!!!!) the fader is pulled down with all the finesse of being whacked in the face with a wet fish!! The whole disco era was about "length" The 60's were 2 mins 46 secs not the disco wonderful 70's/80's. So rather than cram 100 tracks in ( cause that's what it says on the tin )
Giving a bit more of less would have made this arguably one of the best comps ever. And bringing volume 2 out would have been worth the wait. Listen there are a couple that go all the way.... but not enough.
That said Well worth the 4 stars!
