Having never done pilates before, I wasn't sure what to expect...I kind of thought it was in the "yoga" area of exercise.
OW!! I was wrong (no disrespect to yoga)this is not some kind of relaxing, stretching, spiritual kind of experience, this is targeted, no nonsense toning!!
I started off with the "Pilates Perfect Belly" section and though, right, what good is 10 mins really going to do me. Well, within 5 I was crying out for mercy!! You can really feel it working, far more effectively than the usually sit ups/crunches type routine. After the "hundred" I felt like someone was sticking electrified needles into my abs! But because it's such a short set it's bearable.
You can mix and match the sections to suit you, doing one or two if you're short on time, or do the full 50 mins if you're feeling hardcore!
I've only been doing the dvd for a few weeks now, about 3 times a week and it's really working - my posture is better, I can feel that my core is much stronger and I feel more toned. It's also inspired me to take up more cardio as I want to get rid of the layer of insulation that's hiding my newly-acquired rippling abs, ha ha!
