Having mastered Jennifer Galardi's previous 10 Minute Solution dance DVD, 'Fat Blasting Dance Mix', I was looking forward to giving this one a go. Although Jennifer is pleasant, friendly and not overly perky, I was a little disappointed to get just 2 dance cardio routines, as I'm not sure 'Dancer's Abs' would completely qualify as a dance workout (lots of small movement standing abs work), however there are some fun moves in there.

I've given this 3 stars for the 3 workouts out of the 5 which I think give the most benefit. '*Sexy Slimdown' is a fast paced, multi-step routine which you'll need more room for than you think, with some great dance moves similar to what you'd see on any music channel and '*High Energy Fat Burner' goes like the absolute clappers, really fast, with a sixties feel to it, some retro moves, but mostly you'll be bouncing around on your toes for 10 minutes, so very high cardio. I particularly liked the 'surfing' move, which will make you feel like a real dancer! 'Dancer's Abs' was my least favourite, as although there were a few motivating moves, the instructor favours a standing ab workout and lots of isolation repetitions, which I find tricky to do.

There are toning sections, one on arms and the other on *legs/buns for which you'll need a resistance band. I've been spoiled here, as for me, nothing beats working out with a band to '10 Minute Solutions Pilates: Slim and Sculpt', so the very functional arm workout didn't offer me enough of a challenge, but the leg/buns section was better, loved the frog stretch plus it does give medium level cardio and there are some inspired ballet moves to do with the band.

All the exercises are standing, so no need for a mat, but the dance routines can be a little tough on your carpet. I think I'll be using this one on a less regular basis than my other cardio workouts, but I'll keep it in my programme as overall, it's a fun workout.

Having used this instructors fat blasting dance mix I was looking forward to this new DVD. Caution - it is more tricky in choreography and I struggled to keep up. However, it does really work up a good sweat and gives you great aerobic exercise. I am seeing results, but swap between 6 of the 10 minute series to keep myself interested. Once you have mastered the moves, it is lots more enjoyable. If you like the 10 minute series, this is worth adding to your collection - but if you are first timer - try latin dance mix or fat blasting dance mix as a warm up first.

Hi, I bought this dvd and a few others as my work has got so busy I cannot find times to go to the gym or powerplates as before. It fits my schedule, first thing in the morning and in only 10 mins is very affective at getting the heart pumping. You dont need a huge space or trainers. Some moves are a bit tricky at first but you catch on easily. I love it!

I really like the trainer, her pitch is just right. She's encouraging but not over the top. Her Fat Blasting Dance Mix is better though as the whole DVD has a dance feel. With this Dance It Off And Tone It Up the last 2 sections for toning require a band (this wasn't in the product description). She spends so much of the 10 minutes fiddling it into place the workouts lose momentum. The movements are very slow and controlled so I substitute light wright/ankle or little hand held weights and keep moving whilst she is adjusting the band between exercises. Otherwise these final 2 sections would be of no use to me. As a preference I don't intend to stand around pulling on a giant rubber band and feel this should be kept for pilates or toning DVDs as the expectation with a Dance DVD is more fluidity and continuity of movement surely?

In contrast to what a lot of people are saying here, this is actually one of my favourite 10 Minute Solutions dance DVDs. I own just about all of the others, and the first dance DVD I bought had this very same instructor (that was about 2 years ago now).
It's true that two of the five sections uses a body band and aren't dance-based but rather resistance-based, but it's important to realise that in order to lose weight AND keep it off, resistance training is a must, be it with a toning band, dumbells or body weight training.
The body band routines (you can pick up body bands for about £5 in varying strengths) are fabulous, and they really target all the muscles in your arms and legs. It's very tiring if you're not used to such training, but of all the body band routines I've tried since, this is still one of the most effective. I like to play the upper body routine, then the lower body routine, then repeat them both again for a really good resistance workout in my living room.

As for the three dance sections, they are a surprising amount of fun. As with all 10 minute solutions DVDs, the moves are broken down and you learn one move, perform it, learn a second, perform the first and second, learn a third, perform first, second and third and so on.
There's a lot of movement and small jumps (which are amazing for cardio) in the first section, a lot more jumps and hip swings in the second, which is one of my favourite routines to date, and while the third section features isolations (which shred you surprisingly fast, they are magic) in the beginning, the rest of the routine is so much fun. The three dances are very different from one another which really makes it a lot easier to use as it doesn't feel so repetative like other DVDs can.
