I have most of the 10 minute solution exercises DVDs and I couldn't wait for this latest one latest from Suzanne Bowen. I really rate
10 Minute Solution - Pilates Perfect Body [DVD]and [[ASIN:B001J1O852 10 Minute Solution: Blast Off Belly Fat and this dvd is just as good as those two. I am reviewing it after using it regularly for a couple of weeks. Right from the start I felt it was easy to follow as the instructions and cueing are so good. This DVD is certainly challenging and highly efficient, all the exercises are rapid and fast so you do get a bit of a cardio fat burning effect. I rate all 5 sections, I didn't feel there were any weaker ones.
I would rate this intermediate to advanced, but you can work slowly up by starting with just one section. I found that you do need a lot of upper body strength and strong wrists to complete some of the exercises. There are lots of pulsing, squeezing and just as you think you can't possibly do any more reps or hold the move, the instructor moves on to something else. As Suzanne says: you have to work for it to get the results. The next day I do have muscle burn, so I know these exercises are effective and well worth the considerable effort. I am out of my comfort zone and ready to attack the post Christmas flab and tub. My trousers fit better already and my lower stomach area is definitely better. You need a set of hand held weights throughout. The instructor doesn't say what weight to use, she just says use light weights. I used 3lb weights.
The 5 sections are: Arms, lots of high reps as well as push ups, planks and triceps dips, you do need good arm strength and strong wrists.
Thighs: My favourite, as this section works the inner thighs, if you run regularly it is good to work on this neglected area, I found it really effective. Lots of great new moves incorporating lunges, squats and plies.
Bum: Lots of extra little pulses to get your bum cheeks looking good. In one move you get on to all fours and place a weight behind your knee and lift your bum into the air - and lift and pulse. Truly effective.
Abs: Completely new exercises here and new variations of old classics: crunches, bicycles, v sits and side planks. Again, with the side planks your upper body is worked hard, my arms and wrists certainly felt it!
Total body: Top to toe exercises, lots of planks and variations on plank exercises. There are also lots of balancing exercises, which I found to be very effective. All challenging, but doable.

Each time I do this DVD I like it more and more - the instructor is so calm and clear and has obviously spent a lot of time perfecting her craft. I look forward to using this for years to come.
