What a songwriter!!!

Every song here is a classic since way back, songs i've always liked to listen to whoever sang or played them. But for me this is the way they should be played. So beautiful in this kind of arrangement. Mr Webb rules.

A Master Songwriter Performs Some Of His Best Known Material

Jimmy Webb is a master songwriter. If you've never heard of Jimmy Webb you've probably heard some of his compositions performed by others. On this CD Webb performs some of his best known material. The performances are quite spare; most are just Webb accompanying himself on the piano, others have Webb at the piano with some strings and wind instruments in the background. Webb is not the strongest vocalist but his voice is more than adequate.
The material on this CD has been performed by, among others, Art Garfunkel (All I Know), Linda Ronstadt (The Moon's A Harsh Mistress), Richard Harris (MacArthur Park), Glen Campbell (Witchita Lineman, Galveston, By The Time I Get To Phoenix) and Shaun Colvin (If These walls Could Speak). Having heard numerous other artists doing Webb's material, it's interesting to hear Webb's interpretations of his own compositions.
This is a really good CD. If you want to hear a master songwriter interpreting his own best known material, this CD is worth checking out. Highly recommended.

Reviews for this album are located in the section for the 1996 original,now out of print.Scroll down the reviews and you will find both my original 2005 review and updates to this version. Not to beat my drum,but there is timely information there to save you the confusion,and some bucks,in getting this reissue.
