The title track is a great upbeat number which has a really modern feel but contains some fantastic truths about life. We can do with lots more like this. Great work. David Aird, Presenter/Producer, Heart of the Matter programme Scotland.

Not yet received but we are on vacation! We were prompted to order this cd after sitting in an Orlando ice cream parlour. The proprietor was playing this cd as background music and we loved it. It's a total shame that back in the UK we do not get Christian music played in public places or on mainstream national/local radio.
Looking forward to playing this excellent cd when we get home!!!

I chose this for my fourteen year old daughter who wanted to listen to Christian pop music from time to time. She is listening to the album as I type and has done daily since she received it two weeks ago. She enjoys the inspirational words that tackle day to day issues and says it always cheers her up and makes her smile.

Great music with wholesome Godly lyrics. My daughter hasn't stopped playing it since she got it for Christmas. She's only 8, so not sure whether older children would like it, but I've enjoed listening to it!

1 Girl Nation [1 Girl Nation] 20 Aug. 2013
By Kevin Davis - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
The mainstream music charts have been dominated by Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Pink and others who make the subject matter of their songs as edgy as possible to draw in listeners. Unfortunately as a father of three young daughters who love dance-pop style music, there haven't been many edifying songs I can offer as wholesome alternatives to those artists, until now. I literally dance in my chair, my car, or while I'm walking around when I play these catchy songs by 1 Girl Nation.

Electronic pop music has made a big mark on the music scene and 1 Girl Nation's Kayli, Lindsey, Carmen, Lauryn and Kelsey bring a vocal sincerity to these ultra-catchy pop songs which could easily be featured in mainstream music alongside those top-selling mainstream artists. Fans of mainstream pop singers like Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and Bridgit Mendler looking for a faith-based alternative will enjoy these catchy songs.

"While We're Young" has catchy dance beats and in the song 1 Girl Nation wants to remind us that while standing up for your faith isn't always easy, we are told in the Bible to be full of joy: here, now, while we're young. I love the idea of our youth singing out: "We're going to save ourselves the heartache, we're not looking back on what we wish we'd done, we're going to risk it all for one thing, and live for Jesus while we're young."

The evangelistic messages of "Vertical," "Live For You," "Invade" and "1 Girl Nation" are great for young girls and boys who struggle with the idea of how to be salt and light. In "Vertical" they boldly proclaim, "We're going vertical, praying for miracles, want to see Heaven here on Earth...help us be Your feet and hands." The songs are all super-catchy and have solid lyrics as in "Invade" they belt out, "We will invade this world for You, a sparkling generation with the Truth, we will invade this world for You, with all that we do!" Amen.

The message of finding love and identity from the true source of pure love is found in the songs "In The Eyes" and "Daddy's Girl." The songs intimately share the idea that nothing can fill the void of wanting to feel loved and accepted other than the true love from God, such as "The love that you gave me, came from another, Tossed down to me from a Heavenly Father, who chose me as His daughter...You say that I'm the center of your whole wide world, I'll always be my daddy's girl." The songs are both beautiful ballads and confessional love songs to God.

These are great anthems for girls and guys to express what it means to know the biblical truth from 1 John 4:8-"Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." You can hear the band's yearning and sincerity in every word.

Closing Thoughts (Staff Review, NewReleaseTuesday.com)
Recently, Christian music artists Britt Nicole, Group 1 Crew and Press Play also released "dance" style albums and overall this album has several songs that also fit that category, along with standout pop ballads. 1 Girl Nation lists One Direction, Demi Lovato and TobyMac as their musical influences and those pop musical styles can be found throughout this album. This album is loaded with positive grace-filled messages of hope. The upbeat and heavily produced musical arrangements on this album perfectly accentuate these songs.

You won't be able to help but dance and sing along with this album. In particular, there are the super catchy "dance" songs, "While We're Young," "Vertical," "Live For You," "Count Your Rainbows," "Love Like Crazy," "Invade" and "1 Girl Nation," along with the pop ballads, "In The Eyes," "Turn Around" and "Daddy's Girl." 1 Girl Nation features strong vocals, relevant and biblical messages and this is a solid debut album from a talented young band. Don't miss out on the most upbeat and fun album of the year.

Perfect for Tweens and Teens 22 Nov. 2013
By ashertopia - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
There are a ton of kid's music out there. Songs by artists that are influencing our children through catchy lyrics and music. Now there's a Christian alternative. Is that a good thing?

I've got two daughters and can't get away from their music. (Cue sad I-must-be-getting-old moment here.) When they were preteen and "tweenagers" it was all Disney pop music and now as they move to Junion and Senior High School it's country music (thankfully they seem to have skipped over the former Disney singers) with some pop. This kind of music is all catchy, synth music with danceable beats. And there really is nothing like it on the Christian station (which seems to play mostly towards earnest life growth focused songs).

Enter 1 Girl Nation. Yeah, it's a cheesy name, but it's exactly right in line with younger girl expectations. It sounds exactly like Cheetah Girls and similar Disney pop music. On the solo songs, this CD sounds indistinguishable from current synth pop music. Except for the words - which can be overhanded at times - that clearly mark this as a message for Christians.

My younger daughter (11) took this CD and hasn't given it back. My older daughter (14) said of the music, "I don't want to call it cheesy... but." And then sang along with it. (If you have a teen you know that tension that exists between wanting to grow up and still enjoying the "kid" stuff.) Interestingly, my sons (both younger than the girls) love the music and dance and sing to it regardless of the female focus. From my perspective, the music is very cheesy but it's also very needed. Kids are going to listen to music and they are going to sing along. I'd rather them singing these lyrics than Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana, of which we have several CDs in the house).

Isn't that the point though? This is not music for parents - we have enough of that. This is music for the missing demographic: tweens and teens. And it is just right.

This is an enjoyable, simplistic, Christian version of pop synth music that everyone in my family enjoys (even if they don't admit it.) Listen to the CD a few times and you'll be singing along too.

"Modestly Mission Minded" 22 Aug. 2013
By Tina Leonard - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
August 20th, 1GirlNation will release their highly anticipated self-titled debut album through Reunion Records. Birthed out of a competition for an all-girl faith based Christian pop band they have become sisters on a mission to share the Gospel of Christ through a positive uplifting album. Sharing messages of hope, positive self-image, and purpose, these five girls bring their personal experiences of a relationship with Christ and their musical gifts to the airwaves to fan the flame of a chosen generation to live for Christ.

If I was going to compare them to a current Christian band Iwould have to point the finger toward Royal Taylor, and say they are the female version. The irony in this is that they have a single on the album that features Royal; makes sense considering they are both extremely talented and have a huge opportunity to reach the future leaders in God's army. Though Ihave heard the first single "While We're Young" passing through the Christian radio stations, I was uncertain who it was performed by, until I did this review.

"While We're Young", focuses on how young people have the opportunity to learn from those who have gone before them, and try to save them the heartache of learning things the hard way. Living for Jesus while your young saves you from the future regrets you would have if you live in sin. "We're gonna save ourselves the heartache, we're not looking back on what we wished we done, we're gonna risk it all for one thing, and live for Jesus while we're young."

Looking to the Heavens for direction and help to be His feet and hands, "Vertical" is a call to the children of God, reaching out to the lost and the broken to be His reflection to change the world. This is definitely a dance song. I can see little girls jumping on their beds listening to this and feeling empowered to live for Christ. I have also personally seen an almost forty year old driving down the street bobbing her head, but that's a different story.

Each person is made for a purpose and created in the likeness of Christ. "Live For You", expresses the magnitude and love of God that He used when He designed you. With the unexpected rap segment I revisited a spice girls moment and kind of had to chuckle. When you grow up in the 80's like me you always compare any female that raps to them. That's not a bad thing either, but you hear a lot of young female Christian artists incorporating this into their music these days it's a nice reminder of my youth and I am certain young people love this stuff.

What is so great about this album is that it is fun, vibrant and full of powerful lyrics to touch the hearts of millions. Each member has a chance to shine through vocally, which brings freshness to the album that you don't get to experience when you have the same lead singer throughout. However, that does make it rather difficult to compare to other female artists, so I will simply say they are all fantastic. It's not an easy task to humbly portray the talent that currently seems a bit timid on this album. I feel in time after becoming more confident in their purpose and their gifts they will surprise themselves.

"In The Eyes", is one of the most beautifully done songs on the album and is sure to touch the hearts of many people. This song is an entirely different realm from the rest of the album. It's really a worship song that edifies a person to new strength and self-image. If I was to hear this on the radio, I would think it was Kari Jobe. "You're treasured. You are beautiful in the eyes of the one who made you. You are perfect. You're worth more than you know, in the eyes of the one who made you." If the band reads this, I hope and pray that you make a worship album one day that reflects this composition. (This is me applauding in the background.) I love it.

One of my favorite upbeat songs is "Count Your Rainbows". I love the melody, the vocals and the message. I am going to make a call and say this will be one of their most popular songs. It's a reminder of the promises of God and that even when you are facing a storm, beauty is formed from ashes and God is faithful. It's such an uplifting youthful song with a fabulous message. "Sunshine mixed with a little bit of rain, beauty begins right after the pain." I do believe that is going to be my facebook status soon.

Royal Taylor joins the girls in "Love Like Crazy", which is an upbeat message about burning bright and showing the world how the love of Christ shines. "Invade", pushes the same message about getting out and telling the world about Christ. Invading the nation for Christ and shaking the foundations by spreading the truth of the Gospel. "Turn Around", is another one of my personal favorites. It seems to be such a prevalent message to all age groups today. I talk to so many people who feel like they are too far gone to accomplish anything or become anything or improve themselves. . "You don't have to stay down, He can lift you up now. Cause you're never too far from a brand new start, you can turn around." This has truly beautiful lyrics that the world needs to hear and is spot on vocally.

There is a song on this album that every Father should aim to hear his daughter say to him. "Daddy's Girl", is definitely a love song from a daughter to a Father. A relationship built through the love and direction of Christ that starts at childhood and lasts through a lifetime. For some people this would be a great memorial song to play on a DVD with photos from childhood growing up with their dad and giving it to him for Father's day.

Finishing off the song selections is "1GirlNation". If you want a song that is straight to the point and tells it how it is, this is it. Talking about how people get caught up in everyone's drama, or pointing out things in other people's lives that might not be pleasant. "It's time for a little less talk because we all have faults; it's time for a little less talk and a lot more walk." Calling all ladies to come together and support each other and becoming unified standing tall in Christ. Kayli, who grew up in a military based family states their purpose in uniting with fellow band mates Kelsey, Lauryn, Lindsey and Carmen. "The whole point of everything that we do is to bring more people into the Kingdom of Christ. We were given these talents, abilities, tools, opportunities and platforms to get people to know the name of Jesus and that's the only reason why we do what we do."

As a people in desperate need of modest young men and women for children to look up to, we can only hope this beautiful group of five talented ladies will catch the ear and the heart of the generations.

1Girl Nation is about to take this message on a 50 city fall tour beginning in August as the premier musical guest. The Secret Keeper Girl "Crazy Hair" is a full production which includes a fashion show, mother/daughter conversation time, fun competitions and more. This movement was created to equip moms to connect with their daughters on critical topics from a Biblical perspective. Not really for me. 26 Dec. 2014
By Devin Stephens (I Review, email in Profile) - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Didn't really enjoy this album.. The music seems decent, the vocals are good, lyrics are catchy but don't feel original.. My biggest problem is that the lyrics all sound like other Christian pop bands.. This is a problem with Christian music but a lot of artist are able to turn the themes of Christian songs into their own.. I didn't feel that with this album.. For some reason it had sounded like I have heard everyone of these songs before and I hadn't.. I don't listen to Christian radio stations but I do buy a lot of Christian CD's so I know I haven't heard these songs on the radio.

Now I am not going to give this album a 1 star or anything because music, like any art, all comes down to personal opinion.. I have some albums that I love and most people hate them.. I hope all the best for this group and will purchase more music from them in the future, I just didn't feel or like this album much

Now before I end this review, please know I am a huge fan of Christian music and Christian Artist.. It's something I got into in High school over 16 years ago.. The younger crowd may love this group as they are very similar to Katy Perry and female pop stars like her. I am also a fan of those artist and in that style of music a lot of lyrics also sound very similar..

If you daughters, or younger teenage children like Katy Perry and you are looking for a Christian alternative this is a good start
