5.0 out of 5 stars ahead of its time...., 26 Jan 2009

I would describe Immune the following way;

Take a great a Tool song and pass it to Massive Attack to remix, then pass the remix onto Radiohead to add a fuzz of layered background noise and layered vocals, then onto Nine inch Nails to record a grinding heavy bass and drum line, finally finish it off with some beautiful and powerful vocals put down by a half man half robot.

Go listen to 'consume' for a taster, you won't be dissapointed.

You know, just when you think you've heard every truly great album, something sneaks up on you and has you slavering like a madman. This album did just that to me. Forget for a moment this is 4 lads from Leeds producing their first album because this albums reeks of class and quality from the moment it starts to it's end 55 minutes later. There is simply no neat little pidgeonhole you can slot this in because it seems to be constantly evolving and every play seems to bring to fore something you've previously missed. Those who like modern progressive music like Oceansize, Porcupine Tree and Pure Reason Revolution will adore this, but then again, so will people who's taste run to the likes of Mogwai, Radiohead and Muse. Let's just say if you like you music that is truly progressive, that challenges you, and defies you to turn it off midway through- then you NEED this album!!

5.0 out of 5 stars dark and moody, 14 Mar 2007

This album has everything, apart from short catchy pop songs!
From the tool-esque Monkey to the Massive Attack-esque Consume, this album satisfies all my tastes in music apart from the monster riff. But Immune are much more subtle than that, engaging the listener with odd-metered beats, dark samples and an industrial undercurrent rather than full-on brutal guitar assaults.

If Tool and Massive Attack had sex, I think this would be the resultant offspring
