This CD is worth every penny. Recorded live in concert, it portrays the passion of the three singers so intensely. One gets the sense that whoever was there had the time of their lives. Aicha is one of the best songs on this CD, written so eloquently and sung so beautifully - it will surely strike a chord with anyone who takes the time to listen to it. Give yourself a chance to be enlightened by this wonderful eclectic mix of Arab/African/French cultures. What are you waiting for?

I have long been a fan of Cheb Khaled, but had not heard anything by Chebs Faudel and Taha.
From the very first track this album totally blew me away! The 3 great Chebs show how to put on a show in true Algerian style! This CD has been played over and over so many times that I am considering purchasing another copy for when this copy has had it!
I have always loved Cheb Khaled's rendition of Abdel Kader and to be honest, this was my original reason for buying it. However Chebs Faudel and Taha have left such an impressive impression (can you say that?) that I am now scouring the Amazon archives for material by Cheb Faudel and Cheb Rachid Taha! Excellent!!!
This really is Algerian Rai at its very best!!

You don't have to be a Khaled, Taha or Faudel fan to like this CD. You don't even need who know who they are or what they sing. But if you are a genuine music fan, then this album is a must. They sing a combination of all three singers' songs (such as Aicha, Didi and ya rayah) and incorpreate deep retro Algerian music sounds and style ith western styles such as funk and reggae. It all comes together in a beatiful harmony (they had over 36 musicians to accompany them) in what must have been a thrilling concert.
What adds to that atmosphere is that it is taken from a live concert in a sell-out arena in Paris. Overall this is an all-time great, must-by CD.

Recorded 9/26/98 at the Bercy Arena in Paris, you can feel the intense energy of these three great artists, and the response from the sold-out audience of 18,000...I love the sound of the women ululating in the distance.
It's a sensational concert, and it gets better with each hearing. The musicianship is stupendous, from several groups of instrumentalists, set in clusters on the stage, and at times playing as one. The technical problems of recording this concert must have been daunting, but the results are wonderful. The sound and balance is above average for a live performance. Total time is 76:44.
My favorites are the gorgeous, sensual "Wahrane, Wahrane", sung by the King of Rai, Khaled...this song has the more traditional Arabic orchestration, with strings and oud. Faudel's "Tellement N'Brick, is over 9 minutes of throbbing rai at its best...the intro alone is worth the purchase of this CD. Faudel is a superb singer, and also recommended is his latest solo CD, "Samra".
"Ya Rayah" is one of the five songs these fabulous singers perform together, and it will thrill you. Its rhythmic pulse and melody make dancing to it irresistible, and it should have been the real and fitting finale to this CD. The choice of ending with the studio recording of the bland "Comme d'Habitude" (the original French version of what later Paul Anka would turn into "My Way"), is inexplicable...though actually quite good, it pales in comparison to the rest of the CD, and "Ya Rayah" would be a hard act to follow for any song.
I hardly understand a word that is sung on this CD, but I get the message...there's an irrepressible, life-affirming joy that emanates from it, and shows how art transcends all barriers.
